Not sure it's facepalm worthy when you have no idea what happened in the actual match.
Seriously, though. How many people have lost matches due to excessive lag? It's like everythings twitching in slow motion, I'm mashing on the buttons but I CAN'T STOP IT! *sob*

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
It really is. They made a game that's open and utter chaos to play in "for fun" mode; 4 players and items on hectic stages. They shouldn't then try and force people to play it in a certain way.Lord Satori wrote:Not sure it's facepalm worthy when you have no idea what happened in the actual match.![]()

I just woke up and I honestly couldn't tell if that was a shoop.
"WawaWAHHH dun pick on me"
What does it do if three players consistently target a fourth?

There isn't any reporting system or anything so it's likely an automated system. I assumed it was for when you repeatedly target a single person while paying little to no attention to others. I have yet to experience/see it happen myself.

But I'm being CYBERBULLIED by this person in this match that I can easily leave and literally never see him again!

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
Did you not read the entire sentence? I too often set my sights on an individual player I don't like or has won several matches in a row, but I don't ignore the other players. Until I see footage of this mechanic being utilized unfairly, and/or experience it myself, I won't see a problem with it.Lord Satori wrote:while paying little to no attention to others
You get punished for quitting the game mid-match as well.trap15 wrote:But I'm being CYBERBULLIED by this person in this match that I can easily leave and literally never see him again!

So what's wrong with doing this anyway? Who gives a shit, it's a damn video game.Lord Satori wrote: I too often set my sights on an individual player I don't like or has won several matches in a row
Besides focusing on the strongest player in a group to eliminate that threat is a good strategy if you wanna y'know, win..
Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
Leave at the end of the match. Put down the console and wait for the match to end, then leave. Suicide all your lives then leave the match. There are lots of solutions.Lord Satori wrote:You get punished for quitting the game mid-match as well.trap15 wrote:But I'm being CYBERBULLIED by this person in this match that I can easily leave and literally never see him again!

This doesn't really solve the overall problem.trap15 wrote:Leave at the end of the match.

The matches are all timed. Not to mention you get punished for that, too. For god's sake, trap. Own the damn game before you go trying to spite me to make me look stupid.trap15 wrote:Suicide all your lives then leave the match.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
It's retarded however spun/sliced. Almost as retarded as that one fighting game making characters randomly trip while running! Assuming it can't be disabled, of course.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
Even if we allow the nonsense premise that "repeatedly targeting one player" is detrimental, resorting to automated kicks is a major failing of design. It's not hard to think of game mechanics that would reward spreading out attacks.
Imagine if Street Fighter Alpha 3, rather than discouraging turtling with the guard crush system, just handed players a loss for blocking too much.

Or Mortal Kombat 4's hard-coded limit on how much damage can be dealt in a single combo, which was actually implemented and saved Midway the trouble of bothering to balance the game.Mortificator wrote:Imagine if Street Fighter Alpha 3, rather than discouraging turtling with the guard crush system, just handed players a loss for blocking too much.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
I really love the balloon fight stage, at least conceptually. The hazards are a bit much, but that screenwrapping is really interesting when applied to Smash Bros rules. I'd like to see more stages like that, or an item/character with that capability. Or even an optional rule to turn all stages into screenwrappers. The stages, in general, are kinda sucky though.
Encountered a serious bug though. Got some status effect from a pokeball that lasted indefinitely and made me impossible to knock back even a little for the duration of the match. Took a final smash to the face - nothing.

IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
I agree it's stupid, but the targeting other players thing is mentioned in the rules when you go online. I got bad lag when I tried 4p, but didn't notice much lag in the 1 vs 1 games.
Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
The Wii U-exclusive stages seem better overall. I enjoyed Skyloft from the demo I played.

I got this for my son. He can't seem to play it in 1 player mode. Any clues? AFAIK they only have the one controller there and no way his mom is going to play.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
The main solo modes are under Games and More, but Smash and Smash Tour can also be played 1 player. Trophy Rush is in the trophy menu, which is either under extras or gallery. Confusing.
Re: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU
In smash mode you need to activate CPU players by "clicking" on their portrait fields

Pretty sure the game isn't to blame for this one.

It has been that way since the first game, if I remember correctly.GaijinPunch wrote:Well that sounds stupid. I'll pass this on and see if they can make sense of it.

Guess that'd be the fault of my 7 year old son or his mother, both of whom only speak English as a second language.Lord Satori wrote:Pretty sure the game isn't to blame for this one.

So... instead of sitting down and helping him to read it and figure it out, you sat down and posted here?
Either way, the game isn't to blame for this one. If you insist on finding something to blame then well...
In other news, I haven't played the new Smash since a couple days after the Wii U one came out. I binge played it for a bit, then I got bored and moved back to other games I was more interested in. If Nintendo had done some sort of Wii U exclusive character thing (ideally as a replacer for a shitty clone or two) it would've held my interest more. That said, I'm definitely going back to it eventually. I am by no means done with Smash.

Diggin a hole, I'm diggin a hole. For myself.
Let's see if I can dig some more, shall we?
Seriously though, I think I understand now. Though don't pretend you haven't had a few "derp" moments in your life.

So, according to the latest Nintendo Direct:
- Mewtwo's coming out April 28th. $4 for single version purchase, or $5 bundle for both versions.
- DLC Mii Costumes, $0.75 a pop
- Lucas will be coming June-ish
(Also readable here)
Additionally, they are apparently taking votes for another DLC fighter! Cast your vote here!
DLC... in Nintendo games... man that is weird for me. But still! I'm excited for Mewtwo and Lucas, how about you guys?
