Need turtle beach or similar headset for 360, Xbox One, XRGB

Post by Rock Man »

As the title says. I'm fed up with the cheap wired kind and the harness on my wireless 360 earpiece just broke off. Looking for one with the normal headphone plug to so it can go in the XRGB-3's headphone jack. What big headset should I look for and will I need rechargable batteries? I was looking for the PX5 Turtle Beach but it's scarce and it won't even do Xbox One. I'd also like something that fits comfortably around my head.

What's your price range? The Sony MDR-HW700DS is a nice set with HDMI and line in. But at $350 it's not the cheapest option.

Edit: Just realized that you're looking for a headset not headphones, sorry. Maybe one of the Astro headsets? The Astro mixamp I tried ~2 years ago was crap, but maybe the wireless stuff is better.

Could be a winner I'll go check the price on that one.

Any other suggestions?

I don't know about many other wireless console headset options, but I do know that on my pair of Turtle Beach's both sides snapped in half within a year or two of normal usage. The entire stress of bending them outward to put onto your head was placed on one incredibly tiny screw that quickly stripped itself. I had friends where the same thing happened. They could have changed that, but the headband design looks about the same to me. I know personally speaking that I won't be buying anything else from them.

I recommend the mixamp route as well.
I'm not very fond of my mixamp, I have some slight audio issues with it, but it still very practical since I can use my Sennheiser PC360 headset or my Sony MDR-1R/V-moda boommic combo on both PC, XB360 and PS3.

I'm not very fond of the idea of having to buy a separate headset for each system, especially since quality headsets are expensive and, frankly, overpriced.
If you've got a pair of headphones with a detachable 3.5mm cable, I heartily recommend the V-moda BoomPro, otherwise the modmic is an interesting alternative, but the cables can be a hassle.

I really wish there existed an alternative product to the mixamp :?
