Rare Taito game found

Came across this the other day. Vertexer is a really rare racing game on Taito's IDYA motion simulator cab (Galactic Storm was on there too apparently?) and it looks really cool from what I can see in these videos:

Seems to be part of the inspiration for F-Zero X with the way the tracks loop and bank around.

Wow, the presentation for this game is utterly amazing! It's hard to tell because the recording is low quality, but it looks like the graphics may have been pushed a little too hard - it seems like the framerate is crawling a bit. Maybe the hardware requirements are why it was never localized.

I wish I could see a better video.

It could be the capture device, plus transcoding and uploading to Youtube. I've had 60fps videos end up playing at 15 if I didn't use several workarounds.

My reaction was that it was probably a problem with the capture (which is also super compressy)

It's gotta be the camera, the framerate jumps all over the place. Will be cool to see in motion though.

I googled the IDYA cab that used this game and I found a flyer with an LD game listed called Cave Speeder...probably hard to come by but a dump of that would rock.

Looks DAMN nice, and Tamayo's BGM is as always excellent. Hopefully the frame rate issues are indeed the video's fault and not the game's.

I wonder if Saturn could have done this given the right porting team.

Man, I need this. I am a complete and utter sucker for crazy scaling shit like this, and my dick is rock hard.

For some reason, I think I saw something that looked a lot like this before, but not at such a horrible framerate. Might be mixing it up with another game entirely.
and it looks like any time there's any extensive motion at all, the framerate drops, so it might be the encode, not the board running so slow [really, I can't even imagine it getting released in any capacity if it was sub-20fps, let alone what we're seeing in the video, and I'd expect it to be either 30 or full 60 in real life]

Indeed. Don't ever doubt his dedication. I know a lot of people in the world are passionate about games, but he dumps rare shit and has never even booted Mame!

That archive.org video definitely looks better.

Sucks that there's only 2 music tracks from it on OSTs though, the rest of the music (attract mode in particular) is really good. Dunno how one would go about ripping it when it's dumped but I'd listen to it all day.

The sound quality is likely not that great. You could always start an online petition to get them to release it on vinyl. Online petitions always work.

What's the reasoning? My understanding is that it's the same Ensoniq hardware they switched to after their YM2610 stuff. Should sound just as good as any F3 game.

Sound rip shouldn't be too hard, as long as MAME has a decent emulation of the sound chip (I believe the sound generator is OK and the DSP that goes over that is... not perfectly emulated, but not 100% sure).

Me not knowing about hardware. If the chip can handle the sample rate there's no reason it won't sound good. I kind of went back to the 80's when the soundchips weren't quite as dope as later games.
