Check out this short documentary...

...about Austria's (maybe even Europe's?) biggest collector of Videogames. It's a cool little flick:

I like how he specifically brings up people who collect games without ever opening them to play them. It's nice to see someone collecting games to seriously enjoy them as opposed to owning them for the boxart...

Really cool!

He is actually also a member of this forum, and an all around nice guy. Last time I was in Vienna, I got to check out his place and we played a number of obscure shooters you don't see that often, like G-Stream 2020 and Nostradamus. Totally agree with his sentiments on Raiden DX, btw.

Cool cat. Always good to see a collector who really engages with his stuff.

My software library probably won't ever get quite big enough to require a database, but I do like his "exhibit" terminology for carts/discs containing several distinct games, or versions of games.

He's the only person I know of who has a Pirates PCB (Nix, 1994) :D . Nice video - I would have loved it to see his complete PCB collection (and how he is storing them 8) ).

I kind of looks like he stacks them in a closet, haha.

Great video. As others have said, it's great that he actually plays the games - even when my collection was approaching a hundred titles, I didn't always remember to do that.

Hmm I'm not sure this, it's wwaayy ott for my liking. I have always be a believer that less-is-more. I can appreciate that he plays as well as collects but 500 PCBs alone would be a lifetimes worth of gameplay, nevermind the remaining 40,000+ games. What happens if he brought a bird home? I like playing videogames n' all, but Jesus! :/ I don't think it's healthy to obsess over something to this degree.

I know what you mean, mosquito. I guess once you pass a certain point in any obsession, turning back is the far greater effort; making that paradigm shift.
So many users on this forum have almost encyclopedic knowledge of shmups though, there's something so damn pleasing for the brain to be able to just recount all the information on any given series.
I dunno, from here it seems I'd rather let any singular obsession run me into the dirt than face a sense of un-fulfillment.
