Fair enough. Different strokes and all that jazz.

Never really thought about it that way, but then again Naoto from Persona 4 is pretty cute...

yeah i already downloaded it. when I try to open WF with it, it asks which language it is in... Japanese isn't one of the options and if I click one of the box type languages at the bottom, it just says I need to put my windows cd in and install the east Asian languages.

Has anyone played Super Chain Crusher Horizon and is it worth checking out? It just showed up on steam.

How on earth could that developer have thought that that screen aspect ratio and HUD size is sensible?

Having Amazing! and Groundbreaking! as selling points is pretty cool too. And the very impressive groundbreaking inclusion of a 2 player mode.

Truly profound

I think it's easy to pick on a booster trailer for boosting, even if the phrase "solves the problems of most shmups" is a bit misleading/poorly-worded (ie, has lots of modes of play for lots of players, which isn't a bad thing). The game doesn't look like it's for me but it doesn't look bad. The guy posted his game on this forum a few years ago about his game.

I recall seeing a video of DaiOuJou's Hibachi with two players, and it made the attacks completely fuck up and go at the wrong speed. Am I thinking of the right game, and if so, does anyone have a link to such a video?

Unrelatedly I found this which is really cool (1 person 2 players DoJ BL 1CC): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFLrogRci8k

EDIT: And in that video he fights Hibachi two ships and it has the normal patterns and speed, so I must be thinking of something else.

It happens in DDP iirc
the patterns become less dense and way slower

Ok, so I managed to find and download the files I needed to install the East Asian languages without my xp cd, tried opening warning forever through app locale.... And I still just get an error message. Can't get cho ren sha to work either.

Any ideas anyone?

-edit- my monitor is in tate, could that be a problem?

Hi! I'm the guy who translated all the text and advertising for Super Chain Crusher Horizon. (You can blame any translation stuff on me. It's over the top!)

The developer is very interested to hear what people have to say about the game. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback for him or about the game in general.

One big feature is the 3200 pixel ratio, which typically requires two monitors, but you can play it on a single display. There are a lot of people now with two monitors, so it was a market he wanted to tap. At my work, we got it to run on a giant (40") touch screen display. Obvious inspirations from Darius.

The large charge gauge is used strategically (and it's also fun to make such a large explosion). The second game mode has rapid fire, but each shot forces your ship backward.

Second player uses the mouse and respawns at the end of the level if destroyed. This is to provide an interesting play mode and also make things easier for a less-skilled player.

The short challenges are there for quick score attack modes. It obviously takes dozens and dozens of hours to master a shmup and single credit it, but if a play session is one or two minutes, it's easier to quickly become better at that game mode.

There was also a high score challenge when the game launched in Japan.

Here is the official homepage in English: http://pinball.co.jp/games/SCCH/index_e.htm

And hiya EmperorIng! I didn't know you were into shmups!

Seriously though just play Every Extend, which this game has clearly ripped off...

Is there a "working" rotation patch for the emulated version of Raiden IV?

The trailer makes it look bland, and incredibly pedestrian-looking, save for a one-off gimmick that will lose it's luster after a few minutes..
I wouldn't recommend taking a dive on it.

You guys are harsh on indies.

The game looks fine. I'm sure it's fun for a little score play. Reading this page of responses is embarrassing, pre-judging something based off it's promotional information like a bunch of kids in a playground.

Not to worry. Some of it is slightly farfetched, but you gotta sell the thing. Nice to hear you've implemented some interesting features, good luck with it.

Little help please.

Anyone with experience playing Guwange on coinops5?

I am at a loss to get autofire to work.

I enabled auto on the main game menu. And assigned button x to fire button three. But no luck.

Edit: and tried to press right stick analog in game

Big into shmups at least for the last 5 years, which has largely morphed into a larger [selective!] interest of older games and game systems. On an aside: IIRC, Your console collection would put many to shame!
