*Wii U

Wow, someone else who doesn't talk shit about Dynasty Warriors. I don't know much about the main franchise, but I love the Gundam version, so a Zelda version should be amazing as well!

Yea i love dynasty warriors lol. I gave up on the main DW franchise numbers after DW5 and enjoyed the gundam musous, kens rage, one piece etc etc. Ken's rage 1 was probably my favorite for combat mechanics.

Eurogamer review.
I am, however, gobsmacked by the qualities of Spartan: Total Warrior. The GameCube version delivered a blow I didn't see coming.

Too many disposable musou games as of late. It's been that way since the start of the PS2 era, but now they seem to be hijacking every popular fictional franchise out there, and it's getting especially annoying to see all these talents and resources gone to waste. Koei also seems to have given up on trying experimental spinoffs of the DW series, like Tactics and Katana.

http://www.actionbutton.net/?p=150
...Musou games sell about a quarter of a million to a half a million copies [in Japan] and then vanish from the sales charts. This could be because the majority of copies are sold back within a week of release; this isn’t because the games shock and repulse players with their shoddy shallowness — it’s because the players are not necessarily gamers or game collectors. They don’t let the games stock up on their shelves, they don’t show them off to friends. They play them the way a moviegoer watches a DVD: clear it once, check out all the special features, put it back in the case, tell the wife to return it, get yelled at and called lazy, take it back themselves.

Musou is a Romance of Three Kingdoms spin-off.
As I said before - the number of TPP slashers in general and "crowded" slashers in particular made since PS2 days indicates those are quite cheap/easy to make.*) And as I keep saying - Spartan: Total Warrior is much more than a western Musou clone and shows there is life left in the sub-genre.

*) Look how many Monster Hunter games sporting the same old creaky camera Capcom got away with.

I'd still take a Musou game over a 3D Zelda any day of the week.

As a longsuffering Zelda fan, I was aggressively meh about the whole concept until I saw some gameplay and I suppose it won me over. Won me over to the extent that "Damn if I had a Wii U i'd probably pick it up, let them have their fun I guess."

The ability to play Sheik/Zelda in any form is a welcome addition also.

Couldn't be any worse than doing Lamaze exercises into my DS to play Spirit Tracks.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

So, of all Wii U owners on here (count 'em all), who has actually played it yet?

The EU release is less than a day away (or maybe already here due to the time zone difference) and the US release is only about a week away.

My twin preordered it. Going to play it before I decide to buy. I'm not nearly enough of a Zelda fanboy to be sold on the franchise attachment alone.

I'm quite aware of that. I'm going to buy it as soon as it comes out. I'm just saying, pay attention to release dates, which Obiwanshinobi clearly hasn't, before making a comment with a negative subtext. (though it's possible I just interpreted it wrong)
