Snagged a new DVR unit (a Toshiba DVR620KU). The old Memorex unit had started acting funny (weird encoding errors and not being able to properly display some stuff) so I figured it was worth getting a brand new system. Plus, this is a DVR/VCR combo... so no need for a dedicated VCR anymore (not that we have many videotapes left).
Also, XCOM Enemy Within on PS3.. fantastic expansion to an awesome restructuring of a classic game that happens to be a crappy port... seriously, the PS3 rev runs horribly.. lengthy load times, plenty of frame hiccups, audio issues... an no option to install to harddrive (none that I could find, at any rate). I should have stuck with 360 (I have EU on 360 and it runs beautifully) but I wanted to pad my tiny PS3 library some.
Nice keytar! I hope you spun it around like that youtube vid, haha!railslave wrote:Alesis Vortex keytar in storm trooper white
It'll output video from either the DVD or VCR over composite, S-Video, component or HDMI. The internal upscaler is pretty good and can force progressive scan at 480 or 720 vertical res or you can run at 480i (it is an NTSC unit).Axelay wrote:That DVD combo is nice . Do VHS tapes go through component ? Or scart ?
I miss watching old martial arts films on tape and manga expensive to get them on DVD .
I miss Pinback. Seen them a few times and still wouldn't mind seeing them some moreNRS wrote:Spoils from this past Friday's incredible Pinback/Tera Melos show in Dallas (Summer in Abaddon in its entirety!)
Right on. It was the first time I've seen them live, and hopefully, it won't be the last.undamned wrote:I miss Pinback. Seen them a few times and still wouldn't mind seeing them some more

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
Oops, thankfully it was mysteriously corrected, I'll try to shrink it in paint. D:rapoon wrote:could you make the picture a little bigger?
If you're interested in hearing about the Untold History of Videogames DVD, the article finally went up:Skykid wrote:^ Guys, thank you for your feedback. It's as I suspected.
I can't say much but I received pre-release DVD and had to cover it. The article has been held back for 5 weeks due to a VIP journalist having to produce an article that can't conflict in the publishing schedules. It's... Complicated.
However my general feelings about the DVD production sound mostly mirrored in your comments.

That's a WOW price, even if it's in rough shaperugdoctor wrote:Got a DVDO edge for $1...the power supply was faulty but I manage to get a replacement. The rubber texture is pretty bad as well and took a whole morning to clean up.
