I'm so all over this. I've bought far too many CIB SFC games just for their glorious box art. Hope I can afford it before the kickstarter is over though.

I hope there's a "get rid of the dinged up corners" funding level. Striking looking project, but I'll be able to resist this one.

If it was the original full-size art minus company logos and whatnot that would get me excited, but this just looks lame. If I want to see the game covers as they are presented here, I can just walk over to my shelf and pull out the game. *shrug*

I hate how they use the SFC font for the game titles...

Concept is great though—this book + Super Everdrive can save so many people a large amount of money & space.

First I knew of it too. I did know about the second Famicom game, which never left Japan unlike the first.

Super obscure licensed JP game bonus - Snoopy Sports or whatever on NES was originally "Donald Duck" on Famicom. My soul was crushed, I'd hoped it was a neato FC-only Capcom sidescroller.

Would be good coffee table reading for guests, but there's little other purpose to such a thing when high quality scans of all these boxes are easily available online.

£27,0000!!!!

The like the idea but I won't back it out of principle. That figure is absurd.

Speaking of that, I kind of felt the same way when I found out that Mickey Mousecapade NES and Mickey's Dangerous Chase GB weren't designed by Capcom. The former was Hudson and the latter was Kemco.

I actually heard of the Popeye SFC game due to magazines like EGM and Nintendo Power. I think it may have been planned for US release at one point. I was disappointed when it didn't get a US release. There was also a Popeye gameboy game that had a review in a NP guide, but was only released in Japan. Oddly enough, Popeye 2 GB made it to the US.

I thought the Popeye Sea Hag game was unfinished and unreleased. I have the leaked beta ROM. It's basically unplayable.

GameFAQs seems to say it was released in 1994. Not always the most sterling of sources, but from a bit more looking around it seems to check out. Youtube Longplay

I know it's no brawler, but a Technos Popeye game is a great concept, haha. Ever seen that cartoon where he punches some desert bandit guy square in the fucking mouth and shatters all his teeth to splinters? Was a formative moment of my childhood. Kunio approves!

I wonder if favourite racist WWII tune "You're a Sap, Mister Jap" makes an appearance anywhere.

Exactly. It looks like shit in the current format.

Ridiculous. I guess he's got a lot of bills he'd like us to pay on his behalf.

I actually used to have Snoopy Silly Sports. That fucking stupid pole-vaulting game where your timing has to be just right...

And yeah, honestly I'd love to play all these Popeye games.

I have seen it for sale on ebay from legit sellers like hit-japan and, telling from longplays, it looks beatable. Not sure If I'm a fan of the platform and board game mix, though it looks interesting and I like how it's based more on the comics. The only other SNES board game platformer I can think of is Flintstones Treasure of Sierra Madrock.

OK I went and backed this. Don't agree with the asking price ethics but £24 for an individual book seems reasonable esp. Including UK shipping.

But someone will need to help me with this since I've never backed a KS before: where do I put my shipping address?

I only got the option to add a billing address with my card, but I'm not currently at that address. I need send it to my folks place.

You chaps have done this before, how does it work?

^ Yeah I know. In the end a good idea is a good idea, and I'm too much if an SFC nut to say no. So I backed it.

But any idea about delivery addresses? Cos at this stage I'm not going to receive it.

What does it matter how much this guys deems is needed to complete the book, as long as the backers get the book at a reasonable price?

Delivery address isn't entered until the book is nearing completion and he sends out a survey.

The price is probably fine. How much does it cost to print a small run, full color, hardcover book of this size? Not sure if he's paying anyone to help design, edit, etc, but I suspect he's paying a lawyer and apparently someone did the research into who currently owns these copyrights.

I kind of want this, but it's rather spendy for me to just page through and then put in a drawer.

This has been cancelled due to copyright ambiguities.
