Hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had that problem I will definately disable that next time I get a chance.

Hacker is a pretty decent challenge to clear. Took me roughly 4-5 tries to figure out since I went straight into hacker after blind clearing standard programmer. You do start out with 10 lives, but it can be surprisingly easy to lose all those (that or I was playing poorly those attempts).

Yeah, it might be worth it. I bet a lot of doujins were programmed with XP in mind, and don't run properly on 8.

Just got the 1CC for Shienryu Explosion/Steel Dragon X. Had a no-miss going until the level 8 boss. Then I died about 6 times and once more on the last boss and finished with no lives or bombs

Cleared all the PC-98 Touhou shooters (2-5) on normal. Will probably work on PoDD on harder difficulties later.

Playing on Raiden Project for JPS1. Unfortunately unlike the western version there is no option to turn off checkpoints, so it's kind of a pain in the ass

Just got my copy from Fudoh, 1cc first go. The legend of its legendary ease is reality. It's a lovely looking and sounding game, really nice product, but they somehow overpowered the weaponry to ridiculous proportions and give away too many extends.

I'll try Special Hard mode tomorrow to see if I can get some more longevity out of it.

I cleared Crisis Force on Hard with no starting lives for the hell of it. I'm rather ashamed it took me a large number of attempts that usually went sour with me hoarding bombs and then dying multiple times in a row to silly stuff. It doesn't help that your default attack power is weak as hell, so if you get killed in Hard mode, you have to bombspam to recover, though Type 3's teleportation bomb is absurdly powerful if you know how to use it (materializing on an enemy rips through their health). Speaking of which, the stage 4 boss takes forever unless you bomb it, and I had a heartbreakingly stupid death there with 8 bombs in stock. -_-

Several runs ended at stage 5 where for some reason I decided to get hit a billion times right before the boss, and many more ended in the last stage against the midboss rushes because I was either too stingy with bombs, or didn't arrive there with enough resources.

Got a 1-all of Dragon Blaze. I started out finding this game entertaining enough but after some time with it, i don't really think this is my cup of tea. The hitbox feels weird so i feel like every time i mess up its either forgetting something silly or getting hit to god knows what and then there are situations with the popcorn coming in during boss fights when you least want them to. Like say while dodging a tough fixed pattern. Its not very fun to have popcorn show up and fire just enough bullets that your pattern for the attack is rendered worthless. Not saying that the game is cheap or unfair or whatever, just stating that i stopped enjoying the playing

However, i didn't want to just leave it after learning to play (sorta) the first 6 stages so i started doing some credits and not surprisingly no-missing to stage 7 with sonia wasn't that terribly difficult. That way i didn't have to learn the final boss.

i cleared normal difficulty maniac mode of mushihimesama on iOS, this is my first 1cc of any shmup not including novice modes. i'm getting pretty close to being able to clear espgaluda on mame.

as a side note what difficulty setting on the iOS cave games relates to the standard difficulty of their console ports? i'm guessing it's hell. i have mushihimesama futari on 360 and that seems way harder on original than the clear i just did of maniac on iOS. i dunno if that's just due to touch controls or if the first game is way easier than the second though.

Not quite and "I did it," but I found the best strategy for fighting the stage 4 boss in R-Type 3. This was the hardest boss for me and I found a pattern that makes him absolutely trivial. It lets you skip the part where the rotating stage speeds up. It's stupid and hilarious. I'm tempted to make a video.

If you click the "?" guide in the iOS ports, one of the help pages lists the Hell difficulty as being specifically eqivalent to the original bullet patterns. So yes, Hell difficulty is the official, arcade difficulty patterns. Futari 1.5 is a bit easier than Mushi is though, thanks to increased bomb damage, stronger shot types relative to bosses/enemies, etc.

"Normal" difficulty on the iOS ports is significantly easier. "Hard" is also much easier than "Hell", but it's much more comparable to "Hell" than normal is. If you can clear a mode on "Hard" on the iOS you can probably then more easily work up to the original patterns.

I just NMNBed the stage 4 boss at max rank in Muchi Muchi Pork 1.01. Went in naked and figured I'd take a hit and be able to suck up some pigs on the last attack - no such luck but I don't think I should complain. I remember thinking that boss was bullshit and the only way to get through was bomb spam so this was pretty cool.

Stage 5 ate me alive for some reason.

Finished clearing all the sixes in rRootage GW mode. I feel like the difficulty of this mode is a few steps up from the normal mode, mostly because of the faster ship speed, and still very dense bullet patterns

Finally got the All Clear in Blazing Star earlier this evening! I've capped the recording and should have it up on my Youtube channel sometime tomorrow. Made a crucial scoring error in stage 2, but recovered and finished with 25.7 million (maining Windina).

I beat R-Type III:The Third Lightning. Aww yeah.

I had about the worst run you can have while still beating the game. I made it through the memorization hell part of stage 4 without dying, but I picked up an accidental speed up along the way. I was still hanging in there until stage 6 where I managed to screw up quite a few times in several spots and went down to my last life. I had to do some tricky dodging at the end with only one speed up. It was brutal.

I made a video of this one, which should be uploaded soon. I spent about 30 minutes trying to get through the stage 6 checkpoints. I spent as long in stage 6 as the rest of the game combined.

Going to take a break for a while and then maybe work on Super R-Type later.
