So, is the latest Strider even playable on PC? Not emulated PSP, mind.

By the way, HUNK is still the best fucking thing ever about Biohazard/RE. He has the best lines, the best kills, and he is the ultimate soldier with the battlefield instinct to not run around dangerous biological hazards in sexy summer attire. I fckn came the first time I wrenched a chump's dome 180 degrees!

You mean this Strider?

Yeah, I played it a while ago. Doesn't really try to be a proper Strider game which is good because you can tell they weren't capable of that kind of precision design. Has a 'metroidvania' setup because that is what is cool nowadays, but it's pretty much totally linear (cf. Metroid Fusion). Decent enough game with a fun set of abilities to play with. Last level was genuinely pretty badass. Go straight for hard mode if you want the enemies to stand a chance.

HUNK's bonus chapter in Umbrella Chronicles was probably the top highlight of that game, not that there weren't others.

Also, I don't know why people keep ignoring the fact that RE6 is comparable to Vanquish for having one of the best combat systems in any third-person shooter. It's a huge improvement over the rigid tank controls of RE4 and 5, which were well suited to the classic fixed-perspective titles but not so much a shooter. If not for the rampant, forced QTEs and scripted events throwing a wrench in the works, RE6 would probably be the pinnacle of the TPS genre.

FYI: RE6 is $10 on Steam for the next two days (and Revelations is $12.50). Guess I'll finally get it since that's the first good sale I've seen for the PC version. Even if the campaign isn't so great, it should be worth it for Mercenaries and the Onslaught DLC alone as long as the combat is good.

Fuck double-chainsaw giants, HUNK snap they necks like two twigs

About right. There is more making the combat feel off than just the QTEs and scripted events (the gunplay isn't perfect) but it certainly has a lot of flexibility.

Makes me wonder, actually, how Old Enfeebled Leon actually would do in the pool hall fight against Los Illuminados compared to the RE4 version.

But it must be mentioned that RE4 often has better level design for interesting fights, so much that enemies that get behind you are forced to attack less often.

Because it's a third rate action game and a shit Resi game, thus not really satisfying most?

Oh, that Steam special is for just the bare game. Getting the DLC (why not?) would set you back $12.change. Eh, I'll pass on it for now.

I was thinking of getting the complete edition, but it seems like Onslaught mode is the only DLC that's really worth buying. It sounds pretty cool: 1v1 Merecenaries where you send 'junk' enemies to your opponent, like a competitive puzzle game. It sounds like the other modes are built for 6 players, so I think it would be hard to even get a game started in any of them.

Capcom has taken up patent trolling against Koei Tecmo, probably out of desperation.

SNKP had a legitimate case against Square-Enix, this is far more dubious. Are they seriously trying to claim that they own the concept of disc-based expansion packs?

The entire concept of owning a concept is total bs.

Not going to fly. Sonic & Knuckles and Armored Core did way earlier what Capcom is claiming to be their patent.

Let them have their disc-locked DLC. I don't want it. I also don't particularly want many of the new Capcom games. Win-win!

I'm sure Capcom will fail again, just as they did against Data East.

WTF doesn't Koei Tecmo buy them out? Imagine if they became KTC and did a Final Fight 4 on the Musou engine, or got something going with SNK for a Samurai Shodown & Last Blade vs. Tenchi wo Kurau & Dynasty Warriors (just add a few TwK characters who aren't in DW's roster).
Kinect? KIN NOT.
