I was thinking the same thing. F-zero had to be severely stripped down graphically to run at 60fps.

I think I may have said it earlier in this thread already but for what's it's worth Andy from normal viewing distance (I guess 3 feet on a 20 inch) the scanlines are barely noticeable and do not have any negative impact on 3D content. It's only a little glaring when you put you're face to the screen, stare at the scanlines and start thinking about it.

Thanks, really appreciate that Taiyaki. I'm definitely after one now - I'll make it my last CRT purchase & try to get a 20F1u/20E1u with lowish hours. Might have to wait a while for a good one to come up I think. Does anyone know a good place to look for BVMs besides eBay?

A lot of people seem to be able to find them locally I was wondering how they did that too. I've only seen them on ebay though.

I think the E model seems to be incredibly rare.

That being said imo the difference in line count is probably not going to make a real difference (fudoh or someone with several of these might argue otherwise though). I think any of those 3 are just top of the line crt's and should give you an epic picture.

Never saw an E model over here for sale. On the F I already cannot see the dot structure from a normal viewing/sitting distance, so I can't imagine what advantages the E could offer. I don't think that the E series has different tubes, they probably just were hand selected tubes from the normal production run.

I guess the G model (800 lines) would look pretty much the same as the F?

From normal viewing distance with the G I also cannot see the individual dots. I think the G is easier to find with lower hours (like under 50k). On ebay the F's I've seen tend to be on the higher side with 50k and upwards to 100k, that's just based on what I've seen though.

Where are you located? I sold 6 various model bvms early on this year across the forums. Nobody seemed to be interested in them at the time. The ones that didn't sell ended up going for twice my asking price on ebay. One sold for like £750. Crazy. :?

These were commonly used in tv and video editing studios. As most of them do not work in standard definition any more they will likely sell at really low prices and in bulk too. Just ask around. You never know!

Thanks - I'd have definitely had one of those off you!

I'm waiting on a (what looks like) mint 20E1E at the mo - I just hope the shipping goes OK. I'm following Fudoh's advice & shipping on a pallet. It's only done 11,000 hours! I'm not banking on anything until it turns up tho. I wouldn't mind the 32 inch version for gamecube/Wii era stuff at some point as well.
