I get the impression that the creator of this list is a more console-centric gamer and is less aware of arcade games. If you were to limit shmups to console releases only, this wouldn't be that bad of a list, really.

I played the shit out of Raptor back in the day. Right up there with Tyrian for shmupping on the PC for me at that time. If I was making a list of classic shmups that were not arcade games, I would think one or the other would have to be on there somewhere. The first episode was shareware, and the remaining ones you had to buy.
