SH3 in MAME , cant get 100% speed is it my PC or ?

hi members , i got the below PC spec for MAME to Astro and i cant get 100% speed in Ibara


Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz
ArcadeVGA 2
4GB ram



i was wondering is it my PC specs or the SH3 driver needs some more work on it ?

I couldn't get it SH3 100% either on a Core 2 Duo. It does better on an i5 system I tried but still has slowdown when it gets intense. If anyone has a definite answer that'd be swell. I have the 360 games so I can wait until things progress.

Try enabling cheats and underclocking the emulated cpu. I haven't messed with it in a while but that used to help me. Most of the slowdown in the games isn't due to cpu overload and they don't always max out the cpu specs. At least that was my theory.

ibara is a cpu hog. no chance on getting it to 100% on this setup with the current mame versions.

If you haven't already, try a 64bit OS & a 64bit build of MAME.

Also works fine on i7 3930k, I believe. (However the 3930k and its platform is on a higher tier than the LGA 1156; not sure how the comparable 3XXX chips perform.)

Fine on an i5 4690.

The emulation still needs fixing though, it's noticeably imperfect.

E8500 should be enough to keep Ibara at 100% most of the time especially if you underclock the emulated cpu. You might get some sound skipping but it's playable. I'm assuming everyone with a core2duo knows you always use 64bit versions of programs.

The sound skipping is what I'd refer to as slowndown even if that's technically incorrect. How much muscle does it take to stop this?

I'm not sure but if that is the only reason you are thinking of upgrading your pc you might just hold off a bit because a core2duo will be more than adequate when the games are added in demul.
