I think it'd be quite forgiving for those with lower end PC specs that don't meet the mininum required specs. At least with CC:WI version 1.01, a lower spec PC setup could still post high scores to the leaderboard. But not anymore if playing with version 1.02 if playing online, indeed.

The cutoff for unofficial scores seems fine to me. My CPU cost me about 30 pounds new, and if that one can handle Crimzon Clover, without an extra graphics card, I don't think there is a valid excuse to make any adjustments.

Some kind of framerate restriction is good, but the notion that this was done as an "anti-cheat" method is ridiculous. People weren't cheating by using low framerates.

Do people really think these unrealistic scores are actually possible, even with manipulating FPS?

I don't play Original, but come on.

How is it right now? Anything under 60 = unofficial score? That seems like maybe excessive. perhaps a few frames of slowdown should be allowed? I don't think that 57FPS would make the game significantly easier, though 50FPS might be kind of noticeable. Perhaps there should be a frameskip implemented to make it a little more friendly to old computers? I'm sure that Yotsubane only has so much time to work on this game, though, so maybe that would be an unreasonable request.

Probably some other anticheat measures should be taken, just because I doubt that frame rate manipulation is the only way to cheat, or even a common way. Not sure how, though. How do other games do this?

Well, I don't really know except in the case of games that actually track FPS, a lot of doujins do. I haven't played CC:WI since the last update, yet, but I don't remember it having FPS displayed anywhere. If there's an FPS requirement for making the leaderboards, it should really be displayed somewhere on screen, so I hope that was added.

Also I heard someone mention fraps, but I don't know anything about fraps.

The FPS are displayed in the lower right corner (this was added in the latest update), and there are three bars associated with it. I'm not sure what they measure, but if they are in the red, your score will only be added to the unofficial leaderboard. Also, occasional frame drops do not make your run invalid. On my machine FPS dip down to 45 FPS or so during massive explosions, but my scores are still valid.

Cheating by running the game slower is ONE way of cheating at shmups. Some people are unaware of this, like various Youtubers who post runs of x.x.'s games, running at 30 fps, and thus making the games significantly easier than their original 60 fps (this is due to an issue with newer Windows versions).

Just to make sure: You are running ver. 1.02 right?

Could you describe what the screen looks like in more detail? Are you getting just a flat black screen, or is the game running in the center of black borders on all sides, or is the game stuck to one side of the screen with 3 black borders, etc.?

Hey guys, just got word that Yotsubane is looking at the replay bug right now. If you have a bugged replay, could you upload it here so that I can pass it along? He's trying to figure out why they freak out, but a few samples would help a lot, I think.

Yes, I use version 1.02. What happens is the whole screen turns black, I hear no sound and my computer doesn't respond at all. This issue also occurs on a few softwares if I go full screen, but it is the second game I see this issue in on Steam. I remember the developer of that other game finding a fix in the .ini file or something. Perhaps I could find a workaround by myself...

I posted about this in the CC Steam board as well. The game crashes sometimes when viewing the online leaderboards, especially when scrolling up-down or using the Friends / My rankings filters.

Not really a bug...but a stupid minor request...

At the start of stage one, where it says 'press start to skip', it would be awesome if SHOT also skipped it. When you are bad like me and restarting lots moving your hand to hit start is a terrible burden

I think if you are restarting THAT much you should be doing practice rather than full game attempts ;)
