Recently decided to indulge and pick a PVM 14N5U up on an ebay auction - it's not in the best condition ever but i'm still pretty darn impressed with the resolution even from component input (i don't plan on getting into scart nonsense just yet). There are however two major problems that simply do need fixing - When the unit is turned on the brightness is distributed evenly across the screen but migrates to the right. On a black screen this reads as a gradient of dark to light from left to right. A much less serious issue is the unresponsiveness of the up button, which i would like to clean the contact for and see if i can remove any obstructions or dirt. I opened up the unit but it seems that i'd have to remove the tube to get to the front plate and i didn't want to do that without a bit of advice.
I can take some photos and video of the issue when i'm home from work later tonight. i did some sleuthing but could not find anyone with similar problems. hopefully this is an issue that can be fixed by adjusting some pots or with the unlisted settings for the monitor.
