Well, at the upcoming 2014 California Extreme show, there'll be a few arcade shmups offered for the general public to play:

Ol' PCE-FX here won't be attending due to working on the weekend that the '14 CAX show is being held. So no Cave SH-3 powered shmups like Dodonpachi-Dai Fukkatsu v1.5 and the like this year. There's always next year, right?
Not to mention some cool guest speakers like Eugene Jarvis (of Williams/Raw Thrills fame) and Roy Shildts (has the current WR on Missile Command) on Saturday. Yep, "Mr. Awesome" will be signing autographs free of charge (not to mention that it'll be his first time attending a CAX show, indeed).
At last year's 2013 CAX show, only three modern-day arcade shmups made an appearance: DDP-DFK v1.5, DDP-DOJ Black Label & G-Darius Version 2 respectively.
For pinball fans, it seems that Gary Stern makes a special appearance at the CAX show just for a few hours (he was there for a few hours at the 13' CAX show). It's a special treat nevertheless.
A rare full-sized upright cab of Disney's Fix-It Felix, Jr. will be available to play as well.
I've noticed that in past years of attending a CAX show, every time on Sunday afternoon for the Grand Prize drawing for a brand new pinball machine or full-sized arcade upright cab with some raffle tickets in hand, it seems to be someone else just about five to ten feet away or so that ends up winning. Why is that? Last year's grand prize winner was a dude whom chose the brand new Stern AC/DC pinball machine -- definitely an awesome pin!

I plan on it, but not sure which day. Probably Sat. I've lived here for 6 years and this is the first time I can make it.

You'll be in for a treat which ever day you do decide to attend, antron. You never know what games will be brought in at the last minute, especially Saturday morning.

Speaking of last minute, if anyone happens to have space in a cabinet they're willing to lend for a bit, I could bring a Tetris: The Grand Master PCB (1 or 2, probably don't want to hassle with 3). :p Maybe next year I'll have a candy of my own to bring to the showfloor, but I'm still supergunning at the moment, haha.
