World Cup 2014: BRASIL
Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
In any case, if our team is really in such a bad shape, then what happened today was nothing but deserved. Time to lower our egos and go back to the basics.

Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
The first goal was terrifying. The second, third, fourth, and fifth made me question everything I knew. The sixth and seventh were just sad.
at least Brazil scored, a 7-0 shutout is just too awful to think about
On the other hand, I hadn't expected Brazil to win [even though I was cheering them on -- supported them every single year I've been alive], since the Brazilian team has seemed a bit weak this year. But I thought it'd have been a 1-2 match or something. Maybe 1-3.
7 - 1. I witnessed history.

Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
We all witnessed history today. This is a game people will be talking about fo like the next 40 years.
I am speechless.
I don't think Brazil was playing bad, I think Germany was a little superior, but the game was open up until the first goal. I still could see a turnover, but after the 2nd goal, the team basically turned off, and Germany just whooped everything. I mean, shit, they scored 4 goals in 7 minutes. I am pretty sure I had never seen anything like that.
I felt after the 5th goal, the Germans were like "Shit, we are beating Brazil 5-nil at their home... CALM DOWN, this is getting out of control" or something, it's clear they could have done even more damage to use.
Goddamn it...

I take that back.Limbrooke wrote:Brazil can still defend as well as anyone else in the world though.
Wrong again. Nice to see Ronaldo in attendance for record breaker, amongst other happenings today.Limbrooke wrote:I'd like to see Klose capture the all times goal title but I have a feeling he won't have enough time or space to do so.
Meanwhile, back on page 1...
That's amusing as this tournament seems to have caught your attention. If not, this last match surely did.Ruldra wrote:Anyway, I may watch a match or two casually but I don't really have any interest in soccer, so enjoy yourselves I guess.
I wonder what's in store for tomorrows game.

Ronaldo was actually commenting for Globo TV, the biggest TV Network here in Brazil. It was really weird when the cameras got him on screen, hehe.Limbrooke wrote:I take that back.Limbrooke wrote:Brazil can still defend as well as anyone else in the world though.

Brazil defenders are among the best in world, both David Luiz and Thiago Silva are top-class players, I'd put both among the top 10 centerbacks playing today in the whole world.
Problem is they can't defend alone when the Germany coming attacking with 4-5 players, and the midfield, after the 2nd goal, was completely useless while defending. What I think it happened is that the players really felt the 2nd goal, and their state of mind were something like "WE NEED TO DO OUR BEST NOW DESPERATELY", and everyone on defense was running on the ball at the same time... and with a couple of passes the German team was easily beating them.

Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
I woke up to this news and I thought the station was hacked, so I came to check this thread. 7-1?! Never ever expected this! Like Shatterhand said it seems their morale really collapsed after the second goal. Germany is the new favourite to win.

Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
I'm surprised everyone's crowing on about how amazing Germany were and not how absolutely fail Brazil were....?
Let's get seriass: Brazil's defense last night was one of the poorest, ramshackle excuses for a national team I've ever seen. They had no idea how to properly mark, watch their backs, or close down breathing space. There was no communication whatsoever, and the goalkeeper was absolutely fucking useless.
Germany had it easy, it wasn't that they'd suddenly become a whole new team: this is still the side that couldn't find a win against Ghana earlier in the tournament.
So yes, their exploitation was masterful, but questions have to be raised about the nonexistent skill of Brazil's back four.

Am i still dreaming or did we really beat Brazil 7:1???!!! So sad for the Brazilian Fans...but wait...
Holy sh**, that was awesome. We did write history yesterday and i hope we will win the cup for the fourth time this year.
And did i mention that Klose is the man who shot more goals than Ronaldo? Oh, and wait, we are going to be number 1 in the official Fifa WC list.
Now against the Netherlands in the final.
Btw. there is a funny video where a German "Bier Krug" smashes a Brazilian Cocktail Glass. XD

We play soccer damn right, not so beautiful as in the 2010 WC but damn effective and with a team who has matured and is a whole unit.

They grew as a team and the game against Ghana was the second one in this tournament. Just as a reminder we won the game before that and 4 after the Ghana game.Germany had it easy, it wasn't that they'd suddenly become a whole new team: this is still the side that couldn't find a win against Ghana earlier in the tournament.

Re: World Cup 2014: BRASIL
I just think the defense went bonkers after the 2nd goal. Before the 1st goal we had stole a fair amount of balls and the defense was allright, but then we made a huge mistake on marking that corner kick.Skykid wrote:I'm surprised everyone's crowing on about how amazing Germany were and not how absolutely fail Brazil were....?

It went downhill after that, and the 2nd goal just made the team lose their mind completely.
I don't know if any of you guys ever played football. I played indoor soccer in my youth for a real soccer team, I was a goalkeeper..I could even had become a professional if I wanted (though I doubt I would have a very memorable career, hehe). I once played a tournament where my team just won 4 consecutive games and we only conceded one goal. At the finals my team conceded 2 goals and then everyone lost their minds, and we lost that game 6-1.
Something similar happened today, except it was a NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL TEAM, not a bunch of kids playing

This is the team I actually played for in my youth and could had become a pro if I wanted to stay on this carreer:

I think they're incredibly efficient, the German cliché: a cold calculated force. gbaplayer says "beautiful" - I don't agree, I think they're organised and very cool headed and excellent at exploiting weaknesses. I don't think last night's match is an indicator of how good they might be, owing to Brazil falling to bits.brentsg wrote:Germany isn't that good.
The proof of ability will come in a clash against Holland or Argentina.

I see many are already sniffing the government blood in the air.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-28223719
Some have speculated that the team's poor showing may affect Ms Rousseff's chances in the presidential election in October.
"Brazil's historic humiliation has set off a warning signal in Dilma Rousseff's government, which fears that the bad mood stemming from the defeat may affect expectations for the economy - already not very favourable - as well as the campaign trail," a column in the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper said.
It added that fans in the stadium had chanted insults about Ms Rousseff.
The German team established a 5-0 lead within just 29 minutes, adding two more goals in the second half.
By the end of the match many of the remaining Brazilian fans were cheering the German team.
Ending the BRICS surge with a football match, now that would be an achievement. Let's hope the psychological blow can be absorbed before consequences will go too far.

Amazing match.
Holland are looking a bit swamped, having difficulty keeping control. Argentina are amazing, definitely setting the pace.
Edit: And right after the post they switched it up! I think this is my game of the tournament, it's a war out there.

Sad such an incredible game is decided by penalties.
I can't see Germany beating either of these teams unless they do something drastic. Holland were breathtaking at points.
Anyway, penalties it is. Here we go.

That flawless Argentine tackle (bahaha "tackle" mean "peepee" in Britland) in their half late in extra time was the freshest move I've ever seen.
