Gotta agree with the previous sentiments about the amount of professional cheating in this tournament. I find it shameful and it shows how far the sport has fallen in the last 20 years.

It seems particularly prevalent with the South American teams but I could very well be wrong there. Netherlands vd. Germany would be an awesome final as those two countries have a massive rivalry. Brazil vs. Argentina would have so much diving, cheating and general scumbaggery that I just wouldn't want to see it.

How did we get to the point where players are asking for their opponents to be booked, couting the other team's fouls to the referee and so on became the norm?

Robben is surely one of the hardest working players of this era. He certainly works his ass off to get to the ball in a variety of situations (mostly offensive but defensive too as was seen against Costa Rica). Not only does he work hard but he's skilled too and because of this he's double and triple teamed a lot of the time. Need to stop Robben I think is a prevailing thought and like many of the best players in the world he gets boxed in/out constantly. I'm not saying this justifies the diving but it's rare he's not covered out the wazoo and sometimes he does get knocked around.

I felt the Netherlands/Costa Rica game was pretty lousy for the most part. CR were just in defense only mode for 95% of the match and caused many offsides which I don't think is an accident. Kudos to them - the (overall) strategy nearly worked. The penalties which I thoroughly despise were pretty poorly done by CR, which isn't to take anything away from Krul but there was no variety and it shows in the ultimate outcome. Alternately the Dutch were perfect but surely the match could've been over long before that.

I have no real clarity on whom will be in the finals. With Neymar gone I think Brazil is surely lacking that punch up front since Fred has been ineffective at best this tournament. Hulk seems to have gotten better as the games have gone along but he seems to be alone in terms of real threats. Brazil can still defend as well as anyone else in the world though. Germany started strong, like The Netherlands, but has slowed it's pace and really not pushed the play as much as needed in the last few games. I'd like to see Klose capture the all times goal title but I have a feeling he won't have enough time or space to do so. As for Argentina it's quite simple - they have the best player in the world and he can make or break all the difference in the outcome. I'm a Euro supporter but ultimately I'm not sure The Netherlands can get by. If anything, it could be a rematch of the 1990 World Cup but as to the victor... I wouldn't be watching if I knew who was going to take the crown.

Both Messi and Robben are genuises of the game, although yes, Messi is more sportsman like.

This WC has been awful for diving and fouling actually. The referees have had a difficult time.

I've never been so annoyed with so much diving and faking injuries before in my life. It's really got completely out of hand. THis shit should be heavily penalized.

None of them are half as good as Neymar. I thought Neymar wasn't going to play very well with the National Team (much like it happened during all Ronaldinho career), but he was actually playing really well and giving a lot of his heart out for the team.

Bernard would be great, as he is overall a great player, sometimes lacking defensive skills.
What is with you Brazilians always placing the emphasis on attacking? Sure a good offense could make a good defense, but you have to be much better than the opponent to do so.

I don't think this brazilian team is a better team than the Germans and i do think you underestimate what happens to a team when your captain is not there (thiago Silva won the last game for you guys, not neymar)
