Saver or Spender? Which one are you?
Do you enjoy spending every last dollar on consumer goods?
Or do you find yourself thinking first before making a purchase?
Just curious what the overall make up is of this site.

More of a saver than most, but not to where I maybe should be. I don't spend my money foolishly, except for eating out too much.

More of a hoarder than a waster, myself, though definitely not exclusively so.

The future's cancelled, good luck saving. I'm living hand to mouth and I went to college and did computer science.

Re: Saver or Spender? Which one are you?
My only reasoning for taking a year off from school was to go back to work fulltime to save up for a $6000 guitar. Smart life decisions.
Mainly, I'm a saver, though. I prefer to build up then blow my wad on one big purchase. This usually amounts to one expensive item a year. This year it was a Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery, last year it was 6 months of personal training and gym membership, year before that I bought a used Heritage h575 and an iPad.

Re: Saver or Spender? Which one are you?
I'm both to be honest, I set a certain threshold of what needs to be in my bank accounts at all times, as a buffer, I have to make sure I never cross that red line, also, I pay myself before I pay anyone else, so a certain amount goes into a separate account every month, before any bills, purchases, etc.... in that respect, I'm a saver.
On the other hand I collect video games, and many of those purchases are not intentional just 'saw it, good deal, get it now'.... in that respect I'm a spender, and a huge idiot with my money.

If I have enough money, and I'm saving up for a game, I usually save it. But, if I have less, I spend it all over the course of a few weeks over micro-transactions for snacks, so I'm sorta in the middle.

Up in smoke, that's where my money goes. In my lungs and sometimes up my nose.

Me and the Mrs saved £12000 in 8 months when we put our minds to it.
Before that, saved nothing. God knows where all that money went before 8 months ago. I'd be rich.

I'm a saver with few vices. That said, I enjoy nice guns and obscure videogames.
Homey don't buy no bullshit.
My woman, on the other hand, saves no money. Good job, but god knows where everything goes. Food and clothes I suppose.

Yeah, I should have specified a little better.nasty_wolverine wrote:now i am confused!!?! now, are these actual toys for fucking or just normal everyday fucking toys???drauch wrote:...fucking toys...
Fucking toys and fucking-toys, although I also spend very little on my fucking-toys, yet I've been thinking lately of blowing a huge load and getting something nice. Kind of like treating myself to a nice dinner instead of TOPPO RAMEN and shitty sandwiches. Although I've given up on the ramen (RIP) because I'm starting to get fat, and the last thing I want to be is fat buff like Danzig or something.

I'm genuinely surprised at the votes so far, why are there so many responsible people?

I wouldn't be surprised if you could. If there were a god, and this is indeed his idea of the perfect universe, you know damn well Richard Cheney will be living in a gold plated heaven (the slipperyness it has on the gold cars isn't important since getting crushed there is like having an orgasm) and we'll be in some ghetto alley hundreds of layers lower where the pipeline of his toilet empties out, and no matter where you're standing the waste lands directly on your face.

Shit son, and she's still your girlfriend? My missus would probably kick me square in the balls if I spent $220 of her cash on games.Axelay wrote:I spent £119 on hyper duel and £98 on battle garrega with spine card ........

One thing with each paycheque? In my case,it's usually somewhere between 3 to 5...but I try and keep the costs down a bit these days.I definitely get paper's point about not gaining anything from work if you can't spend on the stuff you enjoy.Sometimes though,my spending on games does border on having a serious problem.

Re: Saver or Spender? Which one are you?
I divide my spending into three categories - necessities, conveniences, and luxuries. I minimise the spend on the first, avoid as much as possible the second, and keep the latter at a low number in quantity whilst being frivolous with the amount.
I try and save between a fifth and a quarter of my income, and this gets reinvested into more profitable assets than simply earning interest.
I don't subscribe to the modern day corruption of "carpe diem".
