For anyone who hasn't snagged this yet, it's available for 7 bucks for a bit if you snag it via the Humble Store (still the Steam version, to be clear).

Finally made it to the last stage

"Do you exist to save the world? Or, is it to break ?"

Save the world...break it...which one gives the highest score again?

Caved in and bought the soundtrack after hearing the Unlimited version of stage 5 lol.

If the game goes on daily deal or something during Steam Summer sale, I might buy it again just to gift to friends lol.

After making a lot of progress in Time Attack, I'm now stuck at 65M with the Type III. I have 7 or 8 runs right around that score. I can't seem to kill the aerial enemies as fast as this guy who scores 86M with the Type II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq5g7st6DS8

Type Z is a lot easier too. I just got 69M on my first try. The wide shot makes it so easy to kill things quickly.

The top 9 on the Type III leaderboard are all over 70M so I must be missing something. Anyone have a Time Attack replay for Type III, or some general advice for that ship?

I still haven't seen any reviews for this anywhere. Knowing mainstream reviewers, they'd probably just say something annoying, like 'it lacks the polish and epic feel of Ikaruga and the off-beat storytelling of Sine Mora and Jamestown.'

I would suggest that everyone here just post the most detailed and glowing reviews you can think of for the steam hub. Be sure to mention how it was made by only one person and shit, the indie hipster crowd loves that shit.

Any shitty IGN review would seem less credible if the entire steam hub is filled with well written and extremely positive reviews, methinks.

Might as well repost this here for visibility. I've been in contact with Bunnyhop regarding this review, and as you can see, he really likes the game. He likes it so much in fact that he would like to interview Yotsubane about the Japanese doujin scene for his review of the game. My Japanese is not good enough to attempt this, so if anyone would like to volunteer for translation assistance, you would have my gratitude.

I finally had a breakthrough on time attack with the Type III. Made it to the low 70s.
Spoiler

I had to take inspiration from the Type Z replays on YouTube. I am still 6-7 million behind at the midboss because I can't figure out how to kill the aerial enemies as fast as they do. I actually keep up pretty well after that. Still waiting on an expert replay.

Is there a way to disable the Achievement Unlocked pop-ups? I hate them, and for some reason it sometimes forgets they were unlocked and makes them pop up again. I seem to have the Steam Overlay feature unchecked already.

Ghost keys, which i might be able to solve.
Very poor handling of resolutions and windowed/full screen mode.
No remapping of keys (that's the final deal breaker).

Sad. Because it looks like a wonderful game.
The amount of fiddling totally puts me off.
I will not mess with my machine with window hacks, autohotkey scripts or xpadder stuff that will interfere with all the stuff that is solidely configured and running.
I can only hope this will get fixed (but my expectations are low on this).

Honestly it depends on each and every person's hardware, installed drivers, and win updates.

I'm using a shitty 8 years old XP machine, a Saturn USB gamepad, and the ugly 360 brawlstick... well everything works flawlessly (save for a couple of freezes in tate mode).

I know people using Win 7 or 8 who have no problems as well, when some are still fighting with fullscreen and controls.

I use Windows 7 64 bit on an old machine with an AMD Phenom II BE but a solid (though not spectacular) R7850 graphics card. Save for a sound issue which I resolved through a sound card setting, everything works well in tate and my usb controller works really well "out of the box" (so to speak). This is a £7 game remember.

You should have tried it when you needed to import it from Japan and play at 480p resolution!

I posted my 72m time attack type III run to YouTube hoping someone else will post a higher scoring replay. I'd love to know how to get 90m+ with that ship.

I watched a playthrough of Ikaruga recently and was unimpressed. I mean, I guess it's a good game, but I was expecting a lot more considering how hyped it is.

There's no way to know that now, there was news of an update though on the maker's site, one upcoming feature seems to be that low-res mode some were asking for http://yotsubane.blog99.fc2.com/blog-entry-67.html

Only semi-related, but the release of Crimzon Clover also prompted Kid Fenris to pen a handful of paragraphs on the shmup genre in his latest "X Button" post, starting about halfway down the page.

What a surprise opening Steam after a while and finding out this game was released there just as I was thinking "I should buy Crimzon Clover".
It's all I've been playing these past weeks and having a blast, what a satisfying game. I cleared both Novice modes to get the ball going and will move on to Arcade now. Shouldn't be too hard except for the scarcity of extends, unlike Novice.
It seems I'm having trouble with the replays, though. I don't know if someone mentioned it already in the thread, but most of my replays desync on the first stage for no reason. There was one that was synced, then next time I watched it desynced and then next time it synced again. Does someone have any idea what may be causing this?

And Bunnyhop must be one of the most reasonable guys saying things on the internet. All of his videos are well though out and he goes to the necessary depths to make his point, this one is no exception. It's interesting because the first half of the video, in which he describes Crimzon Clover, is basically everything I say to my friend when I talk about why I love shmups so much and try to convince them to play them. It's nice seeing someone realize this.

Even though I'm not a great player I still get way too much entertainment from watching non-shmuppers try bullet hell games for the first time.

Yeah, with the other video upthread, it's like people see 6 bullets on screen and go 'Jesus! How hard is this?' Still, he did manage to no-miss the first level, at least.
