Does letting your kid watch England play in a major tournament count as child abuse? :3

Problem with England is they are easy to read.

How many useless Gerrard corners?

How many times should they have just booted the ball into the box but didn't? The one time they did they scored.

Another statistic that worries me that on 35 mins, we still hadn't had any great attempts on goal. Any team worth the World cup should at least have several attempts at goal by this time. With that statistic in mind it hurts me to hear Hodgson say "we had control of the game". When your 4-0 up your in control of the game you fool.

A lot of delusional people out there.

I'm sure we had a lot of possession, but possession is nothing without end product, and unfortunately we don't have the kind of player that can create that bit of magic to split the defence wide open.

Sign a petition to nationalise Gareth Bale.

We're all set here in sunny China for a 3am kick off. It's on like Donkey Kong. Both teams need the points, it's going to be war.

Felt a bit sorry for Ste, he looked and probably felt a bit helpless. He's being asked to play the role of the third man in a two man midfield. Henderson can mask the issue somewhat because of his incredible athleticism, but Gerrard is 34 years old and injury/surgery ravaged.

Italy wisely play two men to do Pirlo's running for him, to cover for the fact he isn't very mobile and hasn't made a tackle for about 5 years, and as a result he can still do his thing for 90 minutes without breaking a sweat.

Still, as a wise man once said - fuck it; it's only England. Roll on next season.

I'm not sure it's a worldwide thing, but is anyone else sick of that little musical jingle that plays before commercial breaks come back to the game? They show this year's World Cup logo, play a little 2-3 second song and go back to the commentators.

It now makes me want to bash my head on my desk.

Edit: Sorry for the England loss. At least you guys have some quality beers to work this one through with.

Beers don't cure cancer.

Anyway, despite my words I put little faith in England this time around. For about 30 mins in the Italy game I almost bought a new England. But then I saw the same old miserable faces, no enthusiasm, no teamwork.. just booting the ball around in midfield.. no matter what the score. Thats the shit you do when your 3-0 up not when your losing.

You watch, we need a high scoring game against Cost Rica, yet we will still see the same players wasting precious minutes booting the ball around midfield. Thats exactly WHAT WE DONT WANT TO SEE!!!!!

shit if I went to Brazil I'd as mad a MF!!!!

I don't think anyone expected us to win. I know I didn't. I just watch the England matches to see how far we can make it, like a casual playing a shmup with limited continues. You know he's gonna game over, you just don't know when.

England are masters of football failure. Even have the audacity to play themselves up every single World cup tournament.

Its a shame the commentators can't say it how we feel it.

I'd like to see Holland win it now. They are the only team who have failed to win it and that have deserved to win it on a couple of occasions.

Btw England was not too bad. I expected not toó much about England. Italy ,Germany, holland France Spain were more favourite than England since a long time. This group was though.

Lol, you guys say it like it isn't anything except par for the course. That said even though we expect it and we're fully used to it, your tactless sentiment still makes you a couple of unsporting pricks.

Regarding the game, I could practically hear my old man on the other side of the world despairing "Same old story", as he always laments as we trundle straight out of a big tournament.

England haven't changed. Against Italy there was a glimmer of something better, but then it's back to the same old discoordination and scatty, scared play. Uruguay play cool while England burn out and scrabble with long balls and mount countless attacks that have no weight in them.

The team is still not a team, they're like a bunch of schoolkids being terrorised by professionals.

Skykid, the key to winning is to send your military to highly developed soccer nations. They fraternize with the local women properly, and 20 or so years later you have a squad of eligible players for your World Cup side.

I didn't bother watching the game I watched the game vs italy and hated everything but the last 15 mins same old England, I did manage to catch a few clips this morning so for that match I guess everyone probably showed him the wanker sign in the locker room not to mention the internet memes that will probably follow.
