Re: Shmup parodies on anime series
In the anime "Katanagatari," at the beginning of one of the episodes, there is a parody of Taito's "KiKi KaiKai" arcade game.
I forget the episode number, though.
Edit: Episode 7

Ok, what's going on here in this topic? Are these two games for real? Mostly interested in Regaria. That ship looks cool. But looking on the net all I could find was this wiki picture. How do I get Regaria?KAI wrote:
"NieA_7" Vs Shmup, seems good.
"Ore no Imotou's" Regaria, a Shump so easy that a loli can 1cc its hard mode on the 1st try.

They're not real. They're mockups of fake games made for the show.
Re: Shmup parodies on anime series
From "Nyaruko"

It drives me insane whenever shit mixes up the location of A and B on a faux-Famicom pad.

Space Dandy had a very brief Galaga parody during the race episode (which is appropriate seeing how they did a tie in Galaga game for mobile phones). Can't find a good screencap though.

Though a parody, it will be an actual game though, lol.

What, no mention of Opa-Opa spoof character Opal being one of the main characters in the manga/anime series about the console wars called World War Blue (Aoi Sekai no Chūshin de)?
Volume 4 and 5 of the manga even has Opal and Gear (Sonic) fighting spoof versions every boss in the first Fantasy Zone game, including Opal's father and her being all depressed about it.

From the 1978 anime, "Space Pirate Captain Harlock."
That same orb appears in Konami's "Trigon:"

Re: Shmup parodies on anime series
Technically that'd be an anime parody in a shmup though, heh.

From the 1981 anime "Dr. Slump," episode 16:

You DO realize that many shmups, being from Japan and all, also borrow quite heavily from anime, manga, and vice-versa, right?

Although this is not from anime, in the Super Sentai series "Winged Squadron Jetman," episode 9, one of the main characters was playing Raiga Strato Fighter in an arcade:

Well, this is in a manga but why make another thread? The manga is called High Score Girl.

Re: Shmup parodies on anime series
Guess Hinagiku doesn't like Gradius V that much, it's a shame since Gradius was already referenced in a previous episode of Hayate the Combat Butler and that Konami is financing the anime...KAI wrote:lol Gradius V
