rRootage for psp!
rRootage for psp!
Another port from ps2dev.org - mainly from mrbrown this time. The framerate is mostly good, the graphics look a little odd and I find it hard to play, but it's rRootage and it works. There was a release on pspupdates.com claiming credit for this release, but it was just lifted from the subversion server and released without credit... anyway, get it from here.

oh, btw, this crashes on my v1.5 psp. ymmv.

"I regret to inform you your psp has just crashed"
That was after about a minute of play. This will be great once they get the bugs worked out...
edit: actually it seems only Psy(variar) mode crashes, the other modes are playable!

Here's the PSP-rRootage Error messsage in it's entirety...
Yes, I too have the firmware version 1.50 PSP and after downloading/installing the 1.5v of PSP rRootage program, it ran fine for an entire single rRootage gaming session...then I got the same PSP "blue" colored crash screen (as stated in it's entirety):Thunder Force wrote:"I regret to inform you your psp has just crashed"

I'm sure the v1.01 release of PSP rRootage will fix the bugs present on version 1.00.

That bug seems to occur only on 1.5 psps, and the main developers (mrbrown and rinco) both have 1.0s. They're working on it, though - this release was hurried to straighten the record with the scumbag on pspupdates.com, and at some odd hour of the morning. The bluescreen had me in stitches the first time I saw it, it's a great little touch...

The next version is out already.
Still no tate, though. Also, it'd be nice if the background could be turned off completely - it doesn't really work on PSP's screen and looks like somebody could get seizures from it.

Latest version of PSP rRootage still crashes on v1.5 PSPs...
I downloaded and installed the latest version of PSP rRootage and it still crashes if you select "Psyvariar Mode" during a gaming session of PSP rRootage.Ghegs wrote:The next version is out already.

Perhaps, a second PSP just for playing the latest PSP UMD gamess would do the trick of playing the latest PSP homebrew shmups (since they require 2.0 to be present anyhow)?
I know that some PSP homebrew shmups like LUA won't run on a firmware 1.50 as it seems to be made for a firmware 2.0 PSP instead.

Cool, maybe the devs are getting closer to cracking 2.0 so we can play emu.ReKleSS wrote:Grab Fanjita's 2.0 eboot loader and you can play it. I don't know about the bugs, though. Generally most things will work on 2.0 as long as they don't require kernel mode stuff (usb and network stuff, mostly).

Too bad 2.6 is already out in Japan though. Gah.

2.00 only allows limited forms of homebrew. The most spectacular homebrew programs will always be for 1.00 and/or 1.50.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Perhaps, a second PSP just for playing the latest PSP UMD gamess would do the trick of playing the latest PSP homebrew shmups (since they require 2.0 to be present anyhow)?

Works fine for me. And like TF said, 1.0 and and 1.5 are the kings of homebrew.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:I downloaded and installed the latest version of PSP rRootage and it still crashes if you select "Psyvariar Mode" during a gaming session of PSP rRootage.
New version from mrbrown, at the same forum thread. The lack of antialiasing makes the game much easier to play. It still crashes in psy mode on 1.5, though.
get it here.
@TF: Not really true. As I said, USB and network stuff are missing, and the ram is cut down a bit because the vsh is using it (16mb or so left, instead of 24), but other than that (and a few weird crashes) 2.0 is completely usable.

I have a 1.0 PSP and it crashes on mine, too.ReKleSS wrote:That bug seems to occur only on 1.5 psps, and the main developers (mrbrown and rinco) both have 1.0s. (edit)
Just updated to the new version and it hasn't crashed once. Woot! Great game! I'm going to have to take this out on the train today.
(edit#2)
Nevermind, Psyvariar mode still crashes fairly early into playing. Good thing I enjoy GW mode much more!
