R-Type Dimensions Brings The Bydo Empire To PS3 Next Week

R-Type Dimensions is a two game bundle with remakes of R-Type and R-Type II. Originally released for Xbox Live Arcade, Tozai Games announced they will bring the compilation to PlayStation 3
on November 21.
R-Type Dimensions has options to switch between 3D and classic 2D graphics. On top of that, the original arcade games R-Type (eight stages) and R-Type II (six stages) will be playable in Classic Mode.
The PlayStation 3 version also has enhanced audio in 3D mode, Infinite Mode where you have unlimited credits, and online & offline multiplayer. Other features like slow motion, key config, online rankings, and game stats are in the game too. R-Type Dimensions will cost 1,000 yen ($11) on the PlayStation Store.

Given that the XBL version was released simultaneously in multiple regions this could be permanently exclusive to Japan. Maybe TOZAI feels that a western PSN release wouldn't even earn its "hosting fees" and that the XBL release has already sufficiently served that market.

So was the XBLA version ever patched to include key config?
Enhanced audio?! No! I want! Why Japan only. ... Maybe they'll add the enhanced audio to the X-Box 360 version too via an update or DLC? Here's hoping, *fingers crossed*
Damn after I got a Japanese PSN card and bought this earlier this year. I had a hunch it would come over considering all the menus and trophies are in English anyway lol. I'll probably double dip so I don't have to keep hopping back and forth between accounts to access all my games (that and I want to support the PSN shmup releases considering they are flowing in and they aren't garbage ones like Soldner X-2 either).
So far it's been my go to game for the first two R-Types. I very much prefer Dimensions over the originals. It's not Delta or Final but I can really appreciate the game for what they can offer. If only we can get Leo in some shape or form on consoles. I have it on my PC.
