It's probably just one of those things that's hard to word. But I think I get what you mean. It's like you start fighting the boss using one weapon, but you had it set up to change to another weapon that kills the boss slower. Yeah. That makes sense.

A very good run of Caladrius was just ruined by a zako, a fucking zako, that for some goddamn reason managed to survive being shot. It even had the blinking low health animation. I've never ever seen it happen before in Caladrius, just some weird as random fluke that made me want to bash the developers goddamn teeth in with my 360 controller.

I should really probably go play Raiden Fighters... >_>

ANY boss in a Cave game that has a forcefield, ala last boss in Mushihimesama, or the last boss in ESPGaluda II. SO freaking annoying!

losing a life because you didn't realize that you had one more life....on your highest scoring run yet :x
kinda pissed about that. On the other hand, the high score was totally unexpected, so I guess I'm alright...kinda balances out.

Dodonpachi Daioujou taking your lives away before the second loop. I know only the best of the best will beat Hibachi at the end, but COME ON, I earned those lives :/.

Note that this only happens in the vanilla/white label edition. Black Label doesn't do this, which is one of the many reasons it's usually considered the version to play.

Yep. Unfortunately the PS2 version only has the vanilla game and Death Label.

You at least get points for them(it's essentially a clear bonus), but yeah it does suck. Still, I'd like to spend the time to get farther in the loop in both versions someday, which would actually require me to loop WL instead of BL in the first place.

You get a ship after each stage iirc and then there's the 2-4 1up

You get an extra life after each stage as long as you complete it without dying and bombing. (You can only do one or the other, not both)

Fuck Mars Matrix stage 2! It's exactly the difficulty where you don't pay much attention to it, because it's easy, but if you're not paying attention to it you get clipped by a bullet >_<
Also it's really hard to chain it except the very end and the very beginning. I wish i could at least succeed at chaining from the turret to the end.

Stage 4 is worse though for thousands of really fast bullets with tiny ass gaps between. Mostly the boss. Also I'm not a fan of the bullet curtain after the extend. I have managed to not die on it like 10 times tops. It really boxes you in..

This one is a bit of a double edged sword. And can be seen to be positive as opposed to a grievance.

When you have too many good shmups to play and are spoiled for choice. And yet you continue to buy more!

I was playing SDOJ last night and a "Disabled from Xbox Live" popup in the lower right of my screen (playing in tate) completely obscured the gameplay (considering I was dodging curtains in the lower right corner of the screen).

I'd like to tell you this ruined a great run but it really just tipped my already-aroused frustration over the edge...

Have been playing Raiden Fighters Jet Full Run on the Raiden Fighters Aces release. Normal difficulty.

Oh, I finally get a no miss to Phase 2 in this mode, then I botch it and game over before even the halfway point of the stage. The other times I hit phase 2 in this mode were with 1 or 2 deaths beforehand and the farthest I had gotten was the tank boss. I got the All3 on Normal difficulty Normal course when I no missed to Phase 2, but here I no miss the 5 extra stages you wouldn't play in the normal course as well and botch it. Guess I shouldn't have said I pretty much had the 1cc when I was entering phase 2 :oops:

Maybe some other time. Also would like to mention how much I hate restarting a run to a death on Sim 30 and how much I dislike Phase 1.

In Mars Matrix, of course.
Two runs, both full of deaths from trying too hard. Both with experience >1,600,000 by the time I dead.
I should really be focused on low risk scoring spots, and just trying to make it to stage 6, I think.

Also, I've basically been following my own routes for the entirety of my time trying to play Mars Matrix, and for some reason I cannot figure out how to follow anyone else's for the life of me :|

I have the exact opposite problem in that I've followed other people's routes in Crimzon Clover (v1.01 and World Ignition) with Type I for so long that I can't come up with my own routes for Type III.
Also, I can score decently well in those games, but I haven't 1cc'd either of them. I feel like I'm doing something wrong when my score says "Stage 3 Boss" next to it :oops:

I don't know what I did, if I touched something I shouldn't have, but my Lightning Fighter 2 progress got reset on my iPad just now.

I was going to write something else about it, but... this is a bigger grievance. :?

Still gonna keep playing this game of course. Hah.

EDIT: I wonder if it's to do with the fact that this is the first time I've ever had the game on while also having an internet connection. I had it on the ship select as I brought it in, and it booted me to the splash screen and asked me to rate it, to which I said 'maybe later', and I think that's when my progress got reset.

EDIT 2: In spite of the tone of this post, I do recommend the game~ You can ignore all the in-app purchase stuff, and 1CC Gold looks legit difficult. The final boss is very scary.

One thing I really like in bullet hell shmups are patterns and gameplay in general that encourages fast, unfocused dodging. I find it very frantic and hyperactive in the best way possible.

What I don't like however, is when the game encourages this not by designing patterns and or/hitboxes/mechanics that make fast dodging more intuitive and advisable, but instead arbitrarily assign some reward to playing unfocused. For example, making unfocused attacks more powerful or higher scoring for no reason, or not letting you focus conveniently or at all on patterns where it would clearly be easier, etc.

You get a double break in Crimzon Clover WI, get a nice bunch of popcorn with your secondary, you start to blast everything in sight...but oh your ship got substituted by one of the Dangun Feveron ones in disguise (fastest speed actually) and you end up ramming a bullet or big ship :evil: Fucking hate the change in speed, i have lost count how many times i have ended screeching my teeth in indignation

Simplified Summary of my runs of Mars Matrix the past two days (note that there are two extends, and you start with three lives)
Died once on stage 2, twice on stage 4, twice on stage 5
Died once on stage 3, twice on stage 4, twice on stage 5
Died once on stage 2, twice on stage 4, twice on stage 5
Finally no missed stages 1-3 and 4 up to the midboss!! Gameover on the stage 4 boss after way two many deaths on the battleship.
No missed through the stage part of stage 3! Died on the stage 3 boss, unexpectedly, gameover in stage 5 before the boss
Died once in stage 3, 3 times in stage 4, once in stage 5.
Died once in stage 3, twice in stage 4, once in the stage part of stage 5, and finally made it to the final car of the 6th stage boss, but die there
I'm probably missing a few. >_<

A lot of the deaths were in different places each time, too >_<

Probably means that I still have a lot of practicing to do in stage 4 and 5, still >_<

Especially frustrating, though, considering that not long ago, I was consistently making it from the stage 4 midboss to the boss without dying. Now I'm doing a lot better at the early part of the stage (though still dying occasionally), but keep dying on the parts after the midboss >_<

Also keep dying on the third car of the 5th stage boss, but when practicing, I get it basically every time >_<

Also, I find that I have more trouble not breaking my focus when I have a lot of lives left, which sucks >_<
