Wow, that's so sad to have both Jon Pinette and Mickey Rooney die, and I've also heard Stockton Briggle has passed. Not to mention the actress portraying the Rani in Doctor Who has recently passed as well; it's quite sad.

The Ultimate Warrior passed away, aged 54. He was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday and he had an interview segment on Raw last night. Crazy.

RIP Ultimate Warrior.

I find it a little strange that Peaches wasn't mentioned by anyone yesterday.

Someone beat me to it, but I'll post the picture anyway. Warrior was one of my favorites as a kid, dude was about as intense in his promos as Randy Savage was. These 2 could scare the shit out of a child with the promos they cut. Will post as a link, the picture is massive when posted here!

Yeah, I haven't felt something like this since Savage's passing in 2011. And if you watched RAW on Monday, he cut an incredibly heartfelt promo that's absolutely haunting to hear now...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR08M6EUd0g

At least he got to feel the crowd one last time.

R.I.P.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice that iconoclast already posted the promo segment.

Such a sad case, I didn't even want to post it here (it was on the news all day of course). Poor kids.

Yes a terrible case BIL, and I think there may be more to it.
On Nov 28th 2013 the following article was published online by The Guardian:
http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013 ... stprophets
Check the first paragraph:
"Peaches Geldof could face criminal charges after she named on Twitter two women who allowed their babies to be abused by the singer Ian Watkins."
Motive?

Not to sound like a dick, but what did she actually do? Did she do anything creatively or is she one of those kids that's famous for being rich? No problem w/ that but I try not to follow such people. Living in Japan and keeping up with little media allows that.

Know very little of her myself tbh, besides the inevitable passive media exposure (inevitable over here in the UK at least). Your description might about suffice but I couldn't say. Terrible thing regardless, of course.

I seem to remember she did some programme in which she interviewed various scientologists and spoke at length about how fascinating she found L. Ron Hubbard. Indeed, so fascinating it looked like she was being converted on the spot.

But yeah GP is basically right

Gabriel Garcia Márquez.
Possibly my favourite author, though his writing came from a world i've never seen. RIP Gabo.

I wouldn't consider this a tragedy as he was very old and had already retired from public life, but still..

Hold on, Peaches Geldof is dead?

She was nothing but an airheaded socialite, but so young? Also the daughter of Paula Yates, dead, former wife of INXS Michael Hutchence, also dead.

Wtf, cursed bloodline there.

Very sad about Giger, the Alien fims and his work in general had a profound effect on me as a kid, he was a true original.

Al Feldstein died back on April 29th. Feldstein was a writer and editor for EC Comics in their heyday, and wrote stories for Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, and Shock! Suspenstories. After EC folded he spent a couple decades at Mad Magazine.

sucks about Giger. I actually just learned about his history in Jodorowsky's Dune documentary.. basically a section is devoted to how Jodorowsky got Giger into film whom later went on to design alien.

I saw that some of his designs for Dune were reused in Prometheus, namely the big mound/skull thing with the tunnels in it.

Damn, RIP Geiger. Your designs scared the fuck out of me.

From the DVD commentary of the series, I read that he was petrified of airplanes, and never flew. Was this still the case? Ironic that he succumbed to wounds from a fall.

Saw a blurb about that a while ago. RIP. Gotta look up some of his EC Comics stuff!

RIP for Giger too. BTW, an angry Usenet post about Giger (from 1991 or so!) is apparently the first known use of the word "butthurt"
