So I haven't really been keeping up with the XRGB firmware updates and such, so maybe someone that has can point me in the right direction.
I'm currently using a VP30 to scale PCBs to something I can feed into various HDMI capture solutions. (usually 720p but sometimes 480p). It works great but it's a bit...bulky and I sometimes take this setup on the road. So I was looking at getting something smaller that can do mostly the same job.
Primary use will be RGB input from PCBs, and I'd want to support as many crazy refresh rates as possible (silly raiden fighters 54hz etc). There may occasionally be some old consoles attached to it also. I'm NOT typically using the scaler to play the games, just capture. So some delay is acceptable, since who cares if the capture/stream is behind by a few frames. I can also live with not entirely perfect video quality. I don't really care about fake scan lines either.
Big requirement is the output can be locked to a particular vertical refresh rate regardless of the input.
It _looks_ like I probably want to do the XRGB3, but is there any reason to go with a framemeister for this use?
Framemeister or XRGB3 for capture scaling?

Re: Framemeister or XRGB3 for capture scaling?
It comes down to the combination of your processor and your capture board/box. Which capture box/card do you usually use ?
The DVDO can basically output broadcast standard timings to your capture card. The XRGB-3 can't do that, so unless you have some fancy RGBHV capture card, it won't work. Framemeister works quite well, but it's not 100% compatible. Seibu boards likely won't work.
The combination of a DVDO processor with a capture card is hard to beat. You might want to look into the XCAPTURE-1 if you want something more portable. It accepts your sources directly without the need for a processor in between, but requires postprocessing if you want 720p results.

I have a few but they're all HDMI based, mostly. Blackmagic, and the 1080p60 magewell usb 3.0 dongle thingy. Unfortunately I can't use an XCAPTURE-1 since that's windows only right now.
