GD: V-Five PCB "Bomber Ver." Code

Post by elbarto »

Found this today while searching for MAME replays of the game.. Apologies if its common knowledge, I'd not come across it before.

This code changes the game into "Bomber version", basically turning it into Grindstormer.

Insert coin, then press →←B←↓A↑←

If anyone wants to share strategies or tips, please do.. I really like the game, but I'm finding it a bit tough.

Thank you elbarto, I had been looking for it for a while.

I had actually post question asking for it on another forum, but no reply so far.

Instead of having a Gradius-style power meter, you instead get bombs and earn your powerups the traditional way (collecting their on-screen icons).

In the North American Genesis/MegaDrive version, the game defaults to this mode.

But you can also have the original V-V power-up layout scheme on the USA region Grindstormer cart if you wish. ^_~

The arcade game V-V itself is easier than the arcade game Grind Stormer; activating "Bomber Ver." does not change this, so "Bomber Ver." is easier than Grind Stormer.

Edit: More like a bugfix made Grind Stormer harder, because the "older set" has the same sort of difficulty as V-V. Damn it, it's like Out Zone all over again.

The Mega Drive version doesn't do such, nor does changing regions have an effect.
