Re: XRGB-3
I have a small problem with my XRGB-3.
It constantly loses sync when I connect my snes. When I change the input termination to 220 ohm it works, but the picture is too dark then and I always have to adjust brightness etc when switching game consoles.
Is there any way to fix this? I have an ntsc snes and an original gamecube rgb scart cable.

Re: XRGB-3
Different RGB cable should do the trick. XRGB3 loves those raw/pure sync cables.

Re: XRGB-3
ok, I'll try one of those then. They are not that expensive.BuckoA51 wrote:Different RGB cable should do the trick. XRGB3 loves those raw/pure sync cables.
Are there raw sync cables for the Saturn (PAL)? The picture in B1 is completely unstable. In B0 it's ok, but of course for some games I would like to use B1 mode.

Re: XRGB-3
No, you'd have to internally mod the console for raw sync. Never connect a NTSC raw sync cable to a PAL Saturn.
I'd suggest your problem lies elsewhere if the picture is totally unstable. Raw sync cables usually help clean up any dot-crawl type artifacts or stop the XRGB3 from losing the picture when the screen goes bright white.

well, it is not completely unstable. There is a picture, but it is pretty distorted and shaky. The effect you have when you play around with the afc level.BuckoA51 wrote:No, you'd have to internally mod the console for raw sync. Never connect a NTSC raw sync cable to a PAL Saturn.

Probably your display is not compatible with the XRGB3, what display are you using?

Maybe it's an interlaced game if it looks jumpy in B1 and stable in B0.

Re: XRGB-3
I could fix the picture of the saturn to a certain degree. I inverted the H sync polarisation. It is much better now. But the upper part of the picture is still a bit distorted. I haven't found a way yet to fix this.
I have a Sony KDL 40W4000. I don't know if it's a tv issue.

Does anyone have, or know where I can find, a wiring diagram for the RGB (VGA) input on the back of the XRGB-3?

Re: XRGB-3
Standard VGA pinout. You can use the RGB pins for YPbPr as well (Y on G) and if you want to use RGBs, you put composite sync on the H-Sync pin.

english FW: http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/xrgb3_update ... 110506.exe . This is with the japanese updater though (I think).
You can find step by step update instructions using the japanese updater on my page. http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/ about 40% down in the XRGB-3 section.

Re: XRGB-3
Probably is incompatible, have you tried another console just to be sure? You could also try an Extron interface but no guarantees of course.I have a Sony KDL 40W4000. I don't know if it's a tv issue.

Re: XRGB-3
Anyone know how B1 mode functions if you feed it a 31khz/480p source? Looking for a simple, lag-free way to convert component to VGA and this looks like the easiest way to do it with what I've already got.

Re: XRGB-3
Works just fine, turn the low pass filter off for best results. Usual XRGB3 caveats apply i.e it can be fussy about the signal (I have issues with the Gamecube losing picture) and highly sensitive to noise.

Re: XRGB-3
IIRC one of the D-Terminal inputs is less sensitive to noise... can't remember which one / too lazy to check.

Re: XRGB-3
GAME_IN (the front RGB21 port) is the least noisy in my experience

Re: XRGB-3
Yes GAME_IN is least sensitive for me too. It's also convenient as it does RGB scart and 480p Component through the same port.

Re: XRGB-3
Does anyone know if the XRGB3 GAME IN will accept a 31khz RGBC signal, such as one from a Hanzo+Kenzei Dreamcast setup?
If anyone's curious as to why I'd want this, I have XRGB3 and Mini in my setup and it would just simplify some cabling and let me compare the two scalers.

Re: XRGB-3
I can't answer your question but I'm looking to get a dreamcast, is there a way to have it hooked up to the XRGB-3 supporting both VGA and lower resolutions without fiddling about with wires?

Re: XRGB-3
yes, the RGB input on the back supports 15khz and 31khz, both in RGBHV format. It SHOULD work, but I never tried it with a DC. I had my XSelect D4 connected to that input, so basically anything (component 15khz and 31khz, 31khz RGBHV and 15khz RGBs) got output in RGBHV from the D4 to that input.

That's how my Dreamcast is hooked up at the moment and it works great.

Ok great, just need to buy a dreamcast and a VGA box then.
Would I need a specific VGA box for it? Or will any work hassle free?

Re: XRGB-3
You need a VGA box with 15/31khz switch. Either buy a Hanzo or mod it yourself. No other VGA box has it by default.

Re: XRGB-3
I've just hooked my X68000 up to my XRGB-3 and while 31khz video works fine, I can't get a picture with what I assume is a 15khz output. I'm guessing I'm missing a setting on the XRGB, but can't figure what.

Got my dreamcast yesterday with Hanzo, works great through the RGB labeled VGA port.
