Defaults, as always. Auto-recentering only, do not enable dual stick, and do not play Extra Mode. The new copters in HD are being split. Note whether you played in horizontal or vertical mode, if you can.

I'm assuming these are all DC scores; what I'm reading implies HD is a bit weird but it's not enough to split, I don't know. Same with screen orientation or whatever else. I know I'm forgetting something, please help me out here.

Obviously you can and should use dual stick for New Order; apparently that wasn't already obvious enough, seeing as New Order is a no-man's land right now. (can i please get some real information on this stupid port already)

Just starting to get back into this game. I don't have a DC anymore so I have to play the PS3 version. I just played mainly for survival this run. Cleared the first loop for the first time.

Here is a score for 2-1 Start, if you want to add that category.

winteR - 1,921,840 - All - Normal - DC

I was lucky enough not to die with bombs in stock. Managed to clear the game with one life in spare (and 0 bombs), thanks to huge supply of bombs.

I've been feeling like practicing the second loop of this and Extra mode is pretty good for that. It seems like you can't record replays with that though, at least I was never prompted and I don't see anything in the options either.

Silly end, entered the boss with a spare life and max bombs but managed to die right away in the opening phase. Still somehow beat the rest with only 3 bombs.

I suggest allowing dual stick for New Order Mode.. as both were additions to the HD version.
Leave it banned for arcade mode though so there's no unfair advantage?

So should HD+ get its own score board considering how bizarre it is with the whole slow-down-the-stage rank-ometer? Also, those playing on the 360 and/or PS3 should probably list the chopper they used.

the different copters are being noted, but noone's mentioned using one. i know their names now so blank space spam, also hd+ so more blank spam

it's a good thing people stopped playing this game

Hm... removed Extra Mode. As neat as starting from loop 2 is, I think it's a bit redundant. If it helps, I'm not one for spamming stage select boards either... they're only in the Giga Wing thread because they were in the old thread, and I still want to remove them...

If these kinds of things are a big deal to you, please say so now! Fortunately, winteR's score is right there, so I could readd it if I needed.

Posting this now since I won't be able to play more for a while. The default chopper.

I have yet to loop this with any extra lives. Usually I don't even die at the boss but at some random dumb things somewhere.

Also I don't see any reason why Extra Mode shouldn't be included. At least it's more popular than New Order!

Extra Mode isn't much of an extra mode. Would you track DOJBL loop 1 scores too?

I think that's a slightly different case, since the 1-loop mode there is just the normal game that ends sooner (I don't think Hibachi is really worth much) while the Extra mode gives different stages from the start, and thus makes it harder than obtaining the same score in the first loop of the regular game.

I don't particularly care either way though, if you don't want to add a board I'm not going to protest.

For ddp, the total no of lives is 7 ... 3 by default, 2 for score extends, and 2 from stage-3 1up. That means that:

no of bombs = 3 + 4 + 5 + 24 = 36

I must have used most of them (with 5-8 bombs getting wasted perhaps) to reach the last stage. In general, I think mostly people pre-plan up till a certain point, and then use bombs freely after that.

It took me about 65 hours for that first clear. I have put in another 35 since then, and am still playing it 2-3 hours a week.

Does anyone else wanna handle the New Order crap and I can just handle the original game? Please? I don't have New Order, and I don't see myself getting it anytime soon.

No, the thread looks like garbage and I have no real way of fixing it. This has been an issue ever since May 18th, 2012.

Just thought I'd go ahead and post my PB here even though I'm still working towards the clear. This is the 360 arcade version

Just a note for other people playing this game. The infamous slowdown on the final boss (when tated) seems to lessen when you're far to the right or left of the screen. This is super obnoxious as it means that if you move across the screen between slowdown area and slowdown free area you get very jerky speed changes.

Extremely helpful, thanks. One of the big reasons I avoided Under Defeat was the ridiculous slowdown.

It's really just that one spot. Well I guess there's some slowdown caused by bombing (I think more for dramatic effect than anything), but I want to say that that was in the original game too. But then again I didn't play the DC version enough to know that, so maybe I'm wrong.

Oh, I actually used reverse controls. hahaha. Yeah, probably should have a field.
