There's a ton of Toaplan games, so it wouldn't be too surprising to roll one. They are not exactly the most widely available though.

^I vote to give you credit for it since I honestly don't think anyone will ever clear that challenge. I don't even own any Toaplan stuff, so there's no possibility of me rolling one.

Nice job on the clear too, did you have some prior experience with Progear? I've only ever played it once at the arcade, but I certainly don't remember it being an easy game.

ACSeraph - Psyvariar Revision - 1/2A/3A/4A/XA - Final Boss - 12,508,400 - 17C

Same place I always die, I wish this game had a practice mode. Also considering it has such a huge emphasis on dense patterns and grazing, I really wish your ship had a visible hitbox.

ACSeraph - Dodonpachi Daioujou - X-Mode - Type-B Piper - Stage 3 - 885,504,080

First time ever playing this mode/character. Seems fun, why do I like this and not DFK...? Played like shit though, and everything that killed me was stuff I should have easily avoided. I'll try this out some more later I think.

ACSeraph - Sore yuke! Burunyanman Portable (PSP) - Meinyanman - Stage 2 Boss - ? - 18C

I could have made it a lot farther, but I was fucking around a bit trying to graze bullets on the second boss and was caught off guard by their bizarre hitboxes. Also apathy. This game doesn't actually have an arcade mode because it's really an eroge duct taped to an STG, so I didn't get to see what my score was at the end, but whatever. Despite all that it's not really that terrible to play. Feels like a decent doujin shmup, similar to an easier Aeternum if you've ever played that one. I rather like the slow motion grazing mechanic, that could be pretty cool if it were used in a better game.

Also is no one playing anymore? Am I soldiering on through the wasteland of random STGs as a lone wolf yet again?

Captain - Mars Matrix- Blue ship 1CC -71669606470

As I rolled this game I started smiling.
Hey maybe there should be a cumulative total score for each player?
Games differ too much in scores, it would make no sense to add them up.

Nice 1cc! AC version?
I think the cumulative score thing was a joke because he had just rolled Giga Wing 2, which would obviously skew your score pretty seriously.

You need to kill all the generators and enemies.

All the enemies? That's a lot of enemies.
Are you referring to the guys who shoot out the ball shaped enemies as generators?
Thanks, tho.

Really? In the 3D PS2 remake you only have to kill the generators.

Raiden Fighters - 3,264,090 - 3 - Judge Spear Slave

I'm excited that I remembered how to access the Slaves, and how the medaling system works. I did get the 100k medals before I ate it, which was exciting!

I never stuck with this long enough to clear it. I should change that.

ACSeraph - HAL 21 - Boss - 50,870 - 19C

Apparently pre-NeoGeo SNK made a Xevious ripoff. I guess their long standing tradition of stealing other company's ideas started much earlier than I realized. This is kind of better than Xevious though; a lot more frantic action. As far I can tell it doesn't have stages, I made it pretty far and ended up fighting some sort of really difficult boss who wasted me.

Lord Hypnos - Lotus Land Story - Marisa B - Stage 4 - 16,719,050 - 18C
Spoiler
Image
Played as Marisa b/c I used Reimu A last two times. It's been a while since I've played this, so naturally I didn't do terribly good. notably, I tried to point blank enemies that had too much HP to be point blanking them so low on the screen, which lead to several annoying deaths. Also, I think the Stage 4 boss is different for Marisa (I don't remember this one)

Also realized that my previous LLS 1cc with Reimu A was illigitimate, because I had the lives set above the default (didn't actually remember doing this) :(
Looks like I'm gonna have to do it again with the proper number of lives

Am I alone in thinking LLS has some of the best music in the series? I guess I haven't listened to music from too many of the games.

LLS music is similar to the rest, but using FM synth, which I tend to like (though the same could be said of any of the PC-98 games).
here's two tracks, but they're all quite good

I think Savage Bees = World version of Exed Exes. I'm not a fan of the enemies that come up behind you and fire aimed shots.

It's true, Capcom probably has the rights to much better games. Like Mars Matrix, for example.

VBG - Salamander 2 - 4 - 238,900

Been at least a year since the last time I put serious effort into a shmup. Clicked this thread on a whim, clicked the random link on a whim, and then the text said "Salamander 2" and shit got real. Page 16 makes me feel late to the party, but this is just what I needed, sheer awesome, and you are awesome for providing it.

ACSeraph - SNK Arcade Classics Zero: Ikari (PSP) - RAGE

Just... no. This game is pretty fucked, I don't really see how there was ever a time it was popular. It's better than Commando sure, but what isn't? I'd rather eat rusty nails than play that shit. Lol at your character automatically walking to where they died upon respawn, with no invincibility when they get there so you are chain killed literally without any chance of survival. Also I get why the concept of dude takes on an army all by himself is cool, but that really only works if the dude in question is at least slightly more powerful than his army of adversaries. In Ikari all of the enemies are literally more powerful than you, the normal foot soldiers have the exact same attacks as you with the exact same range, yet they move faster and kill you if you touch them. Terrible, terrible game. Luckily this concept was finally done justice with Shock Troopers.

Kickass, the more the merrier! Stick around for a while! 8)

Sorry I haven't played for a while, BTW. been kinda busy this weekend so far, and rolled Sturmwind again which takes forever to play (an arcade mode 1cc is like 35 minutes to say nothing of normal mode (probably several hours), but I rolled arcade mode anyway.)
