No, generally on bdays I get together with friends and go out and get absolutely destroyed. And the last place my gf would want to go is to a video game get together. Ever notice how when you guys come over to play, she goes out.BareknuckleRoo wrote:Bring her along, problem solved?jonny5 wrote:So my gf just reminded me that my bday is the next day so I may have to forego the shmuptivities in favor of intoxicated debauchery.

Moh, have you ever tested to see how much slowdown there is in Progear with respect to PCB vs MAME? I'm getting to the point where I can reliably loop it (though I usually have runs where I mess up badly and start losing all my lives in st5 for no reason), wondering if it's really that different or not.

I don't think Moh's played much MAME anything. Khoa might have a better idea maybe?

moh you suck for not showing up
So I just grabbed the latest version of Demul (0.582), and it runs the Atomiswave stuff pretty well. Dolphin Blue might actually have less slowdown than when running on a Namoi

I can imagine the brainstorm meeting for that one .. "What if we mixed Metal Slug and Ecco the Dolphin?! And added even more lag?!"shmuppyLove wrote:moh you suck for not showing up

I've got RoR - you need to open a port on your router to host multiplayer, and apparently the online multiplayer can't unlock everything solo/local multi play can, but it's still fun. I've heard it desyncs occasionally though.
The only problem is you can't bind each pad individually, everyone playing on controller has to use the same control scheme.
I bitched to him later on in the night when I realized we coulda had 4 player runs going using his xbox controllers. And oh hey I grabbed Risk of Rain on Steam cuz it looks pretty badass, didn't realize it had co-op too

I'm not really interested in buying anything at the moment, but I'd go to cheer you on and watch you wipe the tourney. Is it a TGM tourney or are they playing one of the less interesting versions like NES?

Re: Waterloo Ontario SHMUPMEET Sat Feb 22
It's an NES tourney, unlimited retries for best lines. I went the last 2 times, just barely losing. The first time I lost with a game started right at the time limit, the second time it was maybe 5 minutes from the time limit.
I've been practicing a bit though, I'm optimistic about doing better this time! Hopefully my opponent has not also improved.

The hundred bucks helped pay for those zelda repro carts you got I guess. Does that Uno puzzle drop game suck like you thought? Or is it actually half-decent?

So remember that cheap, awful stick with the homoerotic wrestler art I got? It's got slightly less shit art on it (ripped from the hi-res poster scans Rancor has on his site):

Ugh, don't remind me. Most guides for modding recommend using your thumb to get the adhesive off the metal plate but I ended up having to soak it in Goo Gone and scrape that crap off, would rather not have to go through that again!

More like +a zillion! But no, I haven't had time to practice as much as I'd like, and my Progear skills are admittedly very rusty. I plan on making a big push on Futari BL God at some point soon.

Not dead, just resting.
It's summer, people want to do stuff that involves going outside rather than sitting around playing teh vidyas.

So I'm moving on the 28th and am taking a cross-country road trip to get to California, but I figure I should stop by to see Canadia again before I leave. Also I should give Khoa his G-NET back. Is anyone not busy some time soon after then?
