Wow.. didn't even know she had been alive for the last 65 years. I thought she was one of those child-stars that died early on from TB or something.

I actually found out very recently that she was still alive - basically the last of the wave of child actors from the era that invented it, but also easily the best-loved. RIP.

Speaking of passings, the important political scientist Robert Dahl recently passed away at 98:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/08/us/po ... glasmartin

I've been reading (off and on) his "How Democratic is the American Constitution?" He has had many important criticisms of American government over the years, though one of his earliest breakthroughs, a study of New Haven, Connecticut, has him arguing that the nation is pluralist, a contention which has been softened up over the years by other critics.

She did some later stuff as a teenager and young adult that was pretty good. She actually was pretty goddamn hot when she got older, but obviously couldn't escape the child image and kinda faded into obscurity. I forgot she was alive as well!

Famed Doctor Who director Christopher Barry has just passed away. He directed the episodes that introduced the Daleks, as well as several other classic instalments. He will be missed.

Don't think anyone posted that comedian Sid Caesar passed within the last few days; I know him mainly from his appearance (along with pretty much every other comedian of his era) in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, bot others could surely name a lot more stuff he did.

Whoa now. Harold was very talented, but a as a comedic actor....no way.

But let's not fight. Harold was very important to lot of great 80s comedies. Sad he's gone.

^ What he said.

But Ramis was a great material writer, for situational comedy and otherwise. He shaped so many of the 80's greats, and gave Murray's talent a platform.

This is really sad, can't believe the guy was 69! Time has flown. I'm impressed he fought the illness for so long, actually.

And he was a Ghostbuster damnit! :(

I realize it was one of his fictional characters, but something that's sigworthy:

The WBC picketed some shit down in Kansas City on Friday. Local news covered the counter-protest. I would love for those assholes to fade into obscurity but I'm sure his fucked up family will keep the hatred rolling.

The former chief doctor of Formula One believes fans of Michael Schumacher must prepare for "really bad news" following his horrific ski accident.

The racing driver has been in an artificial coma since December 29 after suffering terrible brain injuries in a crash at a French ski resort.

Writing on his blog, Gary Harstein said: "As time goes on it becomes less and less likely that Michael will emerge to any significant extent."

He believes the world must brace itself for the worst possible outcome for the Ferrari legend.
Not dead yet, but I guess it's just a matter of time at this point. RIP.

Sad to hear about Frankie Knuckles, pretty sure I heard him spin at least once live.
Beyond legendary in the house scene, he was essentially the creator. R.I.P

Yep... I lean far more on the tech side, but mad props have to be given to him and the others that basically created what clubbing is today.
