Voting Thread

Polls will close April 16th at 9:59am GMT.
It it acceptable to both post new lists and edit current ones up to this point.


Foreword:
Rather than completely re-write out the rules, I am going to write how the usual rules have changed, to both make sure the changes don't get lost in the mess and attempt to make people have to read them properly.


Voting rules:

00. There is no longer a background check. Anybody can vote provided they have enough games to form a valid ballot, although holding more than a mere passing interest in the given subgenre is expected.

01. The format is unchanged; whole numbers only and the maximum vote weight limit still applies. Note that smaller ballots will have less freedom to hand out large values, because math.

02. You may vote for a minimum of 8 games, and a maximum of 25.

03. to 07. are unchanged. Check those original release dates!

08. Unchanged... in terms of what qualifies as a shmup. As an extra qualifier, a game must not have been originally released in arcades in order to be eligible. Hopefully other things completely out of the question (such as commercial console releases in the vein of Einhänder) should also be obvious.

09. In addition to the original ruling, you may not vote for games that you do not believe fit the description of doujin/indie/etc. Because this is a difficult definition to pin down, it is going to be left (somewhat) open to interpretation, but it will still be appreciated if you don't go out of the way to stretch it. Also consider that I want to avoid game crossover in these extra lists I'm running, meaning that if you, individually, vote for something now, you will not be able to vote for it when I run the console/etc voting later in the year. If you aren't certain, you're welcome to wait a while and see how the lists of others shape up, or take notes from the previous voting thread, or add your two cents to the discussion thread, or bring it up with me in private where I'm more likely to offer a detailed response.
