Dengeki Article: STG round table, Bullet Souls, Asada etc.
It would be fabulous if someone who knows Japanese had a brief look at this and summarized the main points of this article on Dengeki:
http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/826/826180/
It's about the Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst release, but there was also some kind of round table discussion of STG developers. Google Translate leds me to believe that the following are stated:
- there is an upcoming budget release of Ginga Force
- Asada is working on an STG for "next-gen" consoles

I was at this event with some other folks. I wrote up a brief run-down here:

There's probably a fair bit more info in that article though.

Thinks it would be interesting to get Iuchi and Manabu Namiki on a project.

Re: Dengeki Article: STG round table, Bullet Souls, Asada et
The MOSS guy said something about maybe adding the PS3-exclusive content from Raiden 4/Caladrius to the X360 versions via DLC.

Dammit, why can't we ever get Fantasy Zone in the West?

To be fair, those two have collaborated before (on the always-overlooked Kokuga), but one could hope for a title bigger than what you usually get on handhelds.

Regarding the comment about Qute: "Next-gen tech offers console-oriented shooters more options than previously available". Did they go into more details? Are they referring to the X86 architecture of the new consoles? Because in terms of raw specs I'm tempted to think that X360 and PS3 offer plenty of power.
Re: Dengeki Article: STG round table, Bullet Souls, Asada et
I assume they meant in regards to networking/social infrastructure--system-level video streaming and all that junk.

Fuck, Qute gonna force me to get a next gen console I might not want whenever their next game comes out.
Hopefully some price drops happen around that time

Classic. It is something that should' ve been said before by Moss. Hopefully 360 users will also have the chance to play those new game modes.GSK wrote:The MOSS guy said something about maybe adding the PS3-exclusive content from Raiden 4/Caladrius to the X360 versions via DLC.

I'm actually surprised that MOSS would say something about that before the PS3 ports if either have actually been released, since it kind of undermines their sales potential ("why double-dip when I can just wait for the DLC for the version I already own?"). The consideration itself isn't surprising though, but I wasn't expecting to hear anything about this until after Caladrius PS3 got released. Perhaps preorders for the PS3 port are well below MOSS's expectations. If that ends up being true, I'm sure we'll see that DLC on 360 sooner rather than later.Phellan Wolf wrote:Classic. Why wouldn't it come? It took awhile for the first batch of SEGA 3D Classics to come here, but they still came here. Also, US actually got a version of FZ that never came to Japan, the US NES version (the JP Famicom version is different). The odd thing is that, despite being published by Tengen and being different from the JP version, it was still developed in Japan.Special World wrote:Dammit, why can't we ever get Fantasy Zone in the West?

Keep in mind that the user base of the genre is on 360 and almost everyone already has also a Ps3 and considering that people don't tend usually to buy a game twice just for a few extras you've got you're answer.Cuilan wrote:I'm actually surprised that MOSS would say something about that before the PS3 ports if either have actually been released, since it kind of undermines their sales potential ("why double-dip when I can just wait for the DLC for the version I already own?"). Maybe Moss thought that the Caladrius succes will also happen on the Ps3 but I guess it won't.

You're probably right. And I guess we did get a fair amount of Fantasy Zone games. It still stings that we didn't get the Sega Ages collection, though >_<BrianC wrote:Why wouldn't it come? My wallet cannot handle such a beating... Let's just hope it's region free.Legendary Hoamaru wrote:Fuck, Qute gonna force me to get a next gen console I might not want whenever their next game comes out.

Both PS4 and Xbone are region-free. MS only changed course after a severe backlash from the gaming community, which they still haven't recovered from.

But everyone should keep in mind that this time around physical releases for the genre are gonna be really really really small, well I'd better say that we're gonna get only digital games, and for now in this case Microsoft is the clear winner by miles. You can choose the marketplace from where you want to buy a game without changing your gamertag or loading a new digital id.

The cover looks quite nice, compared to many "best price" versions.
