Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Now I've been playing some Ketsui Death Label. Nothing else really feeds my habit because I can't stop thinking/waiting for Mushihimesama.

Strikers 1945 II and trying to come back to Giga Wing. Needed a pause from GW, but I still see the chance to beat at least stage 6.

Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
after a break from shmups for over a week im back to playing Arcanacra Black Label, stage 5 is the furthest ive got, quite a hard game but im gonna stick with it for a while and see if i can 1cc it. for a freeware shmup its gotta alot to it if your playing for score.
Been playing zillion beats but im nowhere good enough to get a 1cc in normal mode. Great fun but the way the bullets pulse/ flash it's very taxing on the eyes.
Zen-ichi is another doujin shmup im playing abit of aswell

Ikaruga, Triggerheart.
Apparently, Wine runs Windows programs better than Windows, or at least NullDC and No$GBA.

Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Haven't played any shmups in the last few days, but the last ones I played were M.U.S.H.A. on Genesis and some of the games on Salamander Portable.
Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?

Haha, you sound like me. Playing on your xbox( I had been playing Ikaruga and THE) and trying to play on your mac.
I got TouHou(PCB) running quite well on my mac through Crossover Games, the sounds worked, just no music. The one thing that annoys me about Crossover is that it claims to make executables but when I install something it just starts running, and afterwards When I click on installed apps in Crossover nothing shows up. I'm sure there is a way but its beyond me.

Thanks to DEL lending it to our local arcade, I'm smitten with Zen Blade right now.

Pilot Kids.
I keep getting nailed by stuff I totally don't expect. I don't think any of my deaths felt like I could avoid them.
[edit]
And now Radiant Silvergun. Kids, run this in Mame 0.128, no more, no less. For the first time ever, I got 60fps at 0 frameskip.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. A little glitchy with some graphics [BG disappearing], but it's so much faster.
If you have a 1+ GHz machine, expect 60fps, frameskip of 7 or 8.
1.5+, 4 or 5, and you can turn on auto frameskip.
2+, use auto frameskip, and expect it to stay at 0 most of the time.
3+, it will stay at 0, excluding very small moments.

Odd mix - I can't get enough of Zed Blade and Super Stardust Portable, when I should be playing Futari.

Tried out 1942 Joint Strike demo. What a misery...
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff

Yeah, not the best game. Don't know why I bought that one, think I was bored. I beat it on Hard, bit too easy. and just not that fun.

Futari Black Label Original
Apparently I'm doing OK in the scoring department, but I'm dying like a dog. I've managed stage 4 once, and still die on stage 2 with fair frequency. Point-blanking is rather difficult and it doesn't help that I rarely bomb. I'm planning on forcing myself to stay at the back of the stage, just to see if I can finally get a legitimate 1CC. I would like to say I've beaten games other than Touhou on Easy and Novice/Arrange modes.

I dream of the day when I stop asking questions to which I regret learning the answer.

Toaplan Shooting Battle 1
HELL those guys kicked ass!!! (heh, well, as they still do in Cave, Raizing etc.) In the introduction thread, I've mentioned that I underestimated them - from now on that's not true. Now I clearly see why those guys were and are the men... and that Raiden is just a... Twin Cobra ripoff?!

Futari and DS MBL mainly...
Also dug out the DC, and have been playing Border Down and Mars Matrix from time to time. Really suck at MM, so might put that away soon.

A very bad-assed game. Awesome use of Super-CD abilities.
Sidescrolling mech action with dialogue from wingmen almost seems like a precursor to Assault Suit Leynos on Saturn.
Shit!, I never put much time on any of the games from Toaplan Shooting Battle because of the slowdown on PS2.EinhanderZwei wrote: Toaplan Shooting Battle 1

Having just recently purchased a Net Yaroze it's time to dig Shooting Battle and Raiden DX out of storage and get stoked!
The shmups I've played in the past few weeks are: Trigger Heart Exelica Enhanced, Twinkle Star Sprites la Petite Princess, and Chaos Field New Order on the PS2, and Zaku on the Lynx.
I'd really like to get into Trigger Heart a lot more as it is something different and fresh, but turning my TV over get a little discouraging.
Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Rocking Futari 1.5 original mode. It has taken over my shmupping since I got it.

That statement is highly dependent on a lot of factors. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and assume you wrote it entirely tongue in cheek.null1024 wrote:Apparently, Wine runs Windows programs better than Windows
On topic, I'm going back to Mushihime Sama on PS2 while waiting for an XBox 360 console to play my copy of Futari. Yes, I bought the game without the console, but at least the console won't sell out.
Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Still waiting for my J360, and the games for it, so I'm currently playing the following..
Mega Drive: Magical Troll Ruuto-kun Taru
Famicom: Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun
PC Engine CD: Dynastic Hero
Playstation 2: Homura
..and some random attempts on Dangun Feveron on MAME.
