^It has 2 score based extends yeah. I'm not sure about life refill items though. Nice job on the clear too, I haven't gotten around to fighting him yet in it.

SDOJ - Novice shot and novice laser!

Moving on to novice expert soon!
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Hey guys, so, as of late last night, I finally managed, after like, two hours straight, and putting this off for about half a year due to University related stuff, I finally managed to clear what's considered the hardest scene of them all in Shoot the Bullet, scene 9-6! It was quite intense this one, and it had it's moments for just this one scene, but man, it was worth it! :D

lol, Don't ever make me do another one of this again!

This was, of course, done with my trusty DualShock 3 controller I use to play doujin and other shmups on the PC! :) Quite a nice way to start off the summer break for me, and it looks like the rest of Shoot the Bullet will fall into place soon enough! This is the first of many great achievements I hope to make this summer, both in Touhou, and in the various many shmups that I have on me (Can't wait for Mushihimesama Futari limited edition to come in the mail soon! Hopefully next week, maybe! :D)! :)

Thanks Keres! Haha, I hope to never do scene 9-6 again, along with, like, a lot of other scenes before this one , but this one takes the cake.

Yeah man, that game does get intense, and in quick fashion too. At level 2, you'll already start to see the game is peaking in difficulty alright. Oh man, do I remember being stuck with some of those scenes in the earlier levels. It took a while to figure out, and even then, dang. They're doable alright, it just takes a while to figure out, I'd say.

Funny thing, though: Despite what I've said about that scene and the others, I actually did enjoy playing that one, as with all the other scenes, and even more remarkable, is the fact that, during those two or so hours, I never really raged at the scene. I just kept trying and trying, understanding the scene little by little, not wanting to let this scene beat me again, and then, it happened. Yeah, now that scene no longer hangs over me like a spectre. :)

Best of luck in Shoot the Bullet, Keres! Just keep your nerves up, keep at it, and just, well, never give up, I'd say (There's not much I could put in words), and before you know it, you'll actually progress up the ladder in that game! :)

Shoot the bullet is freaking awesome! Everyone should play it, for score to be specific :3

I broke 55 million recently and got a triangle on 9-5:

Put hundreds of hours into this game and not sick of it yet, although it's getting hard to improve the scores now.

Great Fairy Wars, Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream and Flower View, Shoot the Bullet, these are such amazing games and they get no credit.

I hope you keep playing Shoot the Bullet and that you pursue scoring when you have the full clear because scoring is truly where the real fun and challenge is to be had.

I was saving it so it could be my final cave clear. So much for that plan.

Thanks! I actually had just read your donpachi blog review to verify there only being 1 score extent.
I still don't understand how the bomb stock increase and refilling in-between stages works.

I beat stage 4 in Pink Sweets v1.00 today; What I'm really proud of though is how I no-missed the boss despite going in completely blind (probably dumb luck, but eh).

Dang, I've seen a lot of your submission, chum, and those are quite some scores to be had in Shoot the Bullet! Very nice! Yeah, I'll see what I can do, score-wise, on Shoot the Bullet once I clear whatever scenes that are left on it that I haven't cleared yet. Since you mention it, I'm actually contemplating on re-doing some scenes in Shoot the Bullet for higher score, actually. That, and with scene 9-6 gone, the others won't be too bad to clear now. That, and I feel like I've improved significantly, compared to six months ago. I'll do my best at Shoot the Bullet, chum! :)

Woah, really nice, chempop, and on an arcade machine too, to boot! It's always really cool to see people pulling off 1cc's (or 1-loops, and etc.) with an arcade stick! It's been so long since I actually used one (I never really did get to master using arcade sticks), I should get one these days to practice using all over again, so that I won't just be merely using gamepads. That, and there's no shmup arcade machine around where I live (At least, not that I know of, and just as few enthusiasts), so yeah. I should get to the older CAVE games and other old ones at some point.

I'm curious though. By any chance, chempop, did you make that arcade machine of yours in that picture?

Nope, it's an official SEGA candy cab.

This is a worthwhile investment. Arcade sticks are just amazing. And if they are sanwa or seimitsu they last for years. You can get good at whatever you use, but I prefer arcade sticks to gamepads when it comes to shmups and fighters. My thumbs are blisterless, I find regular d-pad can really mess up my hands, but it depends on the game I guess.

Ah, you purchased them, it looks like. How much did it cost? Yeah, I only asked, since I've heard of those who actually build their own arcade machines, and that's incredible! With that accomplishment picture, I took a guess that you personally built that arcade machine of yours.

Nice job, amdiggywhut! Which mode did you clear Deathsmiles in, if you don't mind me asking? I know I was pretty ecstatic, when I first beat Deathsmiles a month and a half ago. It was my first clear of a CAVE game, and I'm fairly recent to the shmup genre (I'll speak of my re-awakening to the shmup genre at some point in the future, but that'll be another story for another time). I bought that game back in early March, and got my 1st 1cc ever soon after, and it's been uphill for me since then.

Holy. Shit.

I actually did it. A no miss, score optimized clear of Caladrius with Lilith using no custom weapons. I've seen the score go higher in practice before, but there are some random points to it, and I made a minor scoring error early in stage 5 that hurt me a bit. But damn. I am so proud of this. I have never worked so hard at a game in my entire life. I've PMed the two guys above me to ask whether their runs were custom or not. I have a feeling the top run certainly was, but the guy right above me may have done it default.

This was my first time ever chasing a true world record tier score. Very very different feel from normal shmupping I've got to say. I haven't felt this hype since my very first 1cc I ever did. I literally felt sick after the run from the rush of adrenaline that was pumping.

In other news Caladrius is a very very good game to play for score and you should all play it. Do not ignore it because of the ero. Just turn that shit off and bask in the glory of the games depth. I expect to see plenty of you participating in the high score thread when Blaze hits. I'll even write you guys a true full on ST

Yes. It was so worth it. I feel like I truly accomplished something today. Amassing 1cc's was childs play compared to this.

Thanks for the support guys. All the replies in the anger management thread also really helped me to keep things in perspective as I chased this.

Now it's your turn to get that clear Jonst, I'm rooting for you

Aw dang, no way! Nice job, ACSeraph! I've sensed you've been working really hard on Caladrius, and seeing some of your posts recently, it's pretty clear that it's been pretty intense this whole time. Man, I sure wish I could play Caladrius right now (>_<)! I'd like to know a bit about how that feels, so I can completely see where you're coming from, as well as me playing and enjoying the game already, and getting that 1cc and whatnot, but yet, I have to wait for the PS3 game to come out, the limited edition, at least, for me, yeah. It'll be soon enough, though.

But yeah, awesome job, ACSeraph! Can't say much more than I already have!

pria sent me a reply and also linked this Caladrius AC superplay of his friend demonstrating the dominant custom weapon set strategy.

Apparently he and the number 1 both play Lilith Custom, meaning that it would appear my Lilith Default run is in fact the current world record in Vanilla, assuming there are no higher undocumented scores.

I should swipe a family member's PS3 when Blaze comes out. I never took the time to check it out on 360. :(
