I just cleared SDOJ X360 Mode (Shot). That was pretty manageable, apart from the first part of the fight against Hibachi. I wouldn't want to call it easy, though.

The lifebar mechanic makes it (relatively speaking) a lot easier than normal, since you can get hit, and then replenish your health by hypering. You could literally get hit dozens of times in the course of a run and still get a 1cc. What really makes 360 mode fun (and much more difficult) is playing it seriously for score, which generally means you're expending your meter in order to quickly gain hypers for points.

Yes, playing for score makes it very difficult. It's quite a tightrope act.

The fight against Hibachi is quite tough, though, because if you're unfortunate you'll get hit twice or three times in a few seconds. Some of the patterns are extremely fast. Overall, it's quite manageable, though. I played another credit today and 1cc'ed it again. Very fun mode!

X360 Laser isn't so bad either. I find the stage 5 boss (the one before Hibachi) a lot more difficult, though.

Ha ha! That might be the best (only?) parenthood/extend joke yet.

But what was the first extend?

And isn't offspring sort of a second loop for your gene pool?

Mushihimesama hd original.i know plenty think it's easy, and it kind of is when you've memorised it.But I could never get a consistent run, always end up at the final boss on my last life or get taken out by different random shit every time. The clear was decent, still had a life in stock, although low score.still,I can now move on at last!! :D

Nice man!

I don't really think Original is all that easy personally. I've never quite finished it, though I've gotten to Aki on occasion. I've only ever completed 1.5, which is a bit easier in comparison.

@ ACSeraph, thanks mate! mushi has bugged me for ages, what with everybody saying how 'easy' it is.I was playing for a fair bit and made it to the final boss 3 or 4 times in a row,i could feel the clear coming, turned it off for a bit as i was starting to get bored repeatedly playing through the early levels, tried one final time before bed and finally pulled it off! made the final boss with 3 lives in stock, did get 1 stupid death though but it felt good not to spam bomb my way through it!

question is...what next? go back to espgaluda (having the same trouble, final boss screws it up for me) or move on to under defeat, sdoj, progear, muchi muchi pork or donpachi? i can make the final stage on all these...my 'i nearly did it' list would look pretty damn impressive! twice as long as my 1cc (which are not that impressive!) :)

It seems to happen quite often that people who haven't cleared a particular game declare it as being 'easy' based on the first three or four stages.

I think that SDOJ is a fabulous game for a relative beginner. Start with the reasonably challenging Novice Mode, though. It's been compared in difficulty roughly to Futarl Original. I find Progear to be really tough, due to the bullet trajectories. I've managed to no miss every stage in isolation, but didn't yet manage to pull off a 1CC.

Oh, SDOJ is super fun to play! I think it's one of the best STGs ever made.

I just remembered, actually,I was gonna get stuck in to under defeat hd...by the way,I'm not quite a beginner! I do have a couple of cave clears under my belt! As well as some other non cave stuff,I've already cleared sdoj novice/normal and 360 shot modes! I can make stage 5 on ver 1.5. Same with progear.awesome games. :)

Was repairing my old Nesclone, so I put on gradius for play testing, cleared it. Didn't manage to do it when I was younger, always died at the last stage.

Yeah - good work. It took me loads of effort to clear Original and Maniac (PCB), and Original's speed made the clear feel tougher than Maniac in a way (as a fair few others have observed before). Neither's harder, I suspect; maybe just hard in different ways.

Today I placed 7th in the Deathsmiles for Android global leaderboards (Follet Arcade mode). I almost 1cc'd it but died on Tyrannosatan. :( Not the most impressive thing but it was a good way to start the day :D.

I would need to change a lot more than just my stage 3 route, which is how I got my score potential to 50bil+ in the first place.
I don't really feel like it, though. It took me a month and a half to go from 45bil to 52bil, and I'd rather relax now and play other things.

60bil is possible, and I'd probably estimate the upper limit at around 70bil with some excessive pointblanking.

Took a break from Arcade mode and cleared SDOJ X360 Shot.

Way too easy, very much felt like a novice mode. Also way too much talking. I was seriously considering rebooting my console after beating Hibachi because I was convinced the game had hung up... that dialogue section just goes on and on and on...

On a more enthusiastic note, I'm finally starting to make it to or past the stage 4 midboss in SDOJ arcade with Autobomb OFF. Clearing definitely seems possible, if still a ways away.

You can skip the initial Hibachi dialogue by hitting the shot button (or the start button, one of those two skip right to the fighting). Pretty sure the ending bits are skippable too? The 360 mode's shot types correspond to game difficulty. Shot is Novice, Laser is Arcade, EX is Arcade Expert (with some minor difficulty reductions here and there I think, especially at Hibachi? I read this somewhere, I haven't played EX at all).

The difficulty in 360 Shot is learning to score. It's a whole different game when you're aggressively going after points, and it's incredibly fun.

Oh cool, good to know... I was mashing the buttons I have mapped to shot/rapid throughout, but I didn't try start.

I knew that it was easier than arcade when you chose Shot; didn't realize it was Novice difficulty. That definitely explains things. Once I get more competent at Arcade I'll definitely give X360-L a try.

It does seem like it would be more interesting to play for score, especially since the rank picks up pretty quickly the more you hyper-- and you get a LOT of hypers.

I know I had the same "SHUT UP LOLI BEE AND FIGHT ALREADY" issue, haha.

Yeah, it's honestly one of Cave's better arranges. It's more forgiving for beginners looking for a 1CC because you can get hit a lot throughout a run and refill your 'life' bar via hypers even against bosses, and experts can really play the score system by using their meter to quickly gain hypers while staying dangerously low on meter.

Laser and EX are still hard though, maybe moreso than arcade because you can't stock up a ton of lives/bombs to hoard for late game. Your resources can be refilled by hypering, but the maximum resources you can hold is lower than the number of bombs/lives you can carry at a time in arcade... I'm honestly not sure if it's easier or harder compared to the arcade or 1.5. Probably easier because you can break off boss parts more easily and hypers, especially high level ones, seriously widen your shot and laser width.

Am I the only one that hates these topics that don't make it clear at all as to what's it about? Why I usually avoid them unless a forum place is really slow and I'm in the mood for more reading (but when looking through old posts, it's annoying to see how many topics are like this clitter the place. No matter where you go. So because of this no matter where you go doing this I believe to be wrong & not curtious to others or at least aware of this fact. Should be a forum rule... Yikes, who reads those?!). Though for this topic I just knew it was about a 1cc or so. The rare chance I do fall for "Oh, what's it about, what's it about?! I must know!" I feel like a total idiot for succumbing to it... No. Now wasn't one of them cases. I just came here to ask this question. Really. As maybe I'm totally alone on this?

Re: I DID IT

Post by spadgy »

I see your point. This thread is the way it is because it started life with no obvious intention for it to be a regular, running thread for everybody to celebrate their 1CC's. It was just Deca being really excited to have got a hard fought for clear; and it feels fairly clear that it was only ever planned to be that. The thread evolved, and became something a little different from its original intended role/subject line (and I don't think it's fair to call Deca 'not courteous' for that!).

So, I'm sure it is worth editing the subject line and popping an admin edit in the OP here. I'll do so in a moment.

But in general, introducing a rule to make all topics explicitly clear from the OP onwards could be very hard to implement reasonably. We couldn't ask every OP poster to be able to predict where a thread may go (of course, we can try and reign in threads tumbling off topic), and it would be a little heavy handed if mods were diving in editing every subject line and OP/post we felt wasn't clear enough (that would be us taking editorial control, and that's not our purpose, not fair on the members, and would introduce an troubling grey line.). There's forum rules here about 'post quality' we should all try and meet, and in examples like this it seems worth stepping in with a small edit. Locking threads, keeping the place organised, stubbing out the truly unpleasant is our role in this context; editorial control should never be.

If you want clarified, edited, updated copy, go to editorial. There's tonnes of good stuff out there. If you want open, community-based, rolling discussion and debate, go to a forum. There's a really great one right here!

If people want to discuss it more, we can't start a fresh thread in off-topic. Best keep this one on topic, as it's a great, friendly, supportive, enthusiastic thread!

Topic was better before it was "clarified" for the sake of one guy. It didn't have to be about 1CCs, but any achievement that people have, hence, "I DID IT!"
