I just got home from my second trip this summer to the Dogfish brewpub. I knocked back a Double L imperial lager, a super fresh 90 Minute IPA, and a mind blowing cask version of Palo Santo Marron w/ cacao nibs. I also had probably half of my old lady's nutty caucasian (a white russian made with peanut butter vodka) for good measure and now that I'm home I can spend the rest of the night drinking Ommegang Gnomegang until I pass out.

Completely envious; or I would be if I hadn't spent last week in Portland OR. Fuckin' Hair of the Dog, Logsdon, Cascade, The Commons, etc. etc. Hell, I couldn't even be arsed to go to Rogue and Deschutes, there was so much other beer.

Got about 40 gallons of beer fermenting right now and am blending three different belgians from my kegerator. Holy shit!

Joking (and filthy hipsters) aside, it being on the opposite coast and me having no reason to go there are far bigger impediments. It'd be nice to visit Deschutes and Hair of the Dog, but neither excite me enough to make the trip. I'd rather visit Port/Lost Abbey and get Green Flash and Ballast Point as bonuses if I'm making a cross country trip.

What are you blending together? I'm getting ready to brew a saison later this month.

Well yeah, San Diego is the other adult playground. There's even a holiday inn express that will shuttle you to a number of the breweries for free, but port brewing/lost abbey is too far. Speaking of which, Port Brewing is completely worth it, and not because they're my favorite brewery, but so many of their beers are great, and if you go to their taproom, you are confronted with like 20+ amazing beers. Given how elitist my palate has become, Port Brewing still keeps me interested.

Blending? Well I brew a lot of belgians, and even when they aren't stellar, they all tend to blend well together, so you can use the better beers to mask the ones which are just so-so. Because they aren't hop forward and don't use roasted malts, you can just mix 'em in your glass like some crazy Belgian version of suicide, and it works pretty well. For me, I have a quad I never got to attenuate properly, so I added brett, and it just got super weird from their. Can't stand throwing it away, but it mixes pretty well.

Yeah, I've been brewing a shitton of saisons lately. One with Nelson Sauvin, and then another with a lot of weird grains (spelt, flaked barley, etc.) and am trying to ferment it with 100% bruxellanes.

Have just been so fortunate lately that it's unbelievable.

Dropped into my favorite watering hole last week and knocked down a 12 oz pour of Stickee Monkee (Firestone) and it was amazing. I'm not usually into quads but this is highly recommended.

Also found out that there was a special night last night, with some VERY difficult to obtain beers on tap from Goose Island. Headed there last night and had Bourbon County Stout, Madame Rose, and Lolita. I can absolutely recommend BCS without reservation, as it was simply amazing and deserves the reputation. I enjoyed the Lolita more than the Madam Rose, but both were quite interesting. Went back for seconds and thirds of the BCS and managed to rack up a $150 bar tab with tip (I had help). I did not get up early this AM.
