Hi
Smraedis - 23,137,180 - 2-5 - Max Hit: 81 - Type C
inp file recorded, will be happy to share. Played on MamePlus106, donpachi US rom version.
I thought I had the ALL this time.. got slightly distracted at 2-4, and missed too early on that stage, was even more unhappy with the mistake on 2-5, which is just painful to watch.

Tried playing with type C after a several month hiatus, did surprisingly well (if you don't count the fact that pretty much all my deaths in this game are very stupid).
moozooh - 3,457,360 - 1-3 - Max Hit: 55 - Type C
I'll try again, though, I have to clear 1-4 at least once. :\

Woah, woah. Let's not get too hasty, guys. I was just talking about getting the 1CC on the first loop! The last couple stages of this game are cheap enough without bullet swarms tracking me from every explosion on the goddamn screen.
Anyway, I finally killed the first loop today. No breakthroughs or anything, just didn't die as many cheap deaths as I usually do on stage 4 and 5. I even had a life in stock; not bad. Second boss tore me up on the second loop, though. Didn't know what to expect, and my strategy of point-blanking him with the laser didn't work so well on his upgraded form. ;[

To dodge the last attack, stay at the bottom of the screen. You have to make sure that the after dodging one swarm of bullets, you are moving closer to the center of where the next swarm starts. The bullets will crash into the side of you if you are too far away from them to the left or to the right. The will just drop down and plow into the side of your ship. The only way to save yourself is to dodge away and up as they get close and this doesn't always work.

A slight increase. Game ended on the boss of 2-3, due to not anticipating the ridiculous speed of those homing shots in loop 2.

HI!
New to this forum, but with some background in "strategic" shooters (R-Type). Been playing since the 80's all kind of games. I must admit that I neglected shmups a little, it was shmups.com that made me remember my interest in these games.
Also, new to this kind of shooters, been playing Donpachi a few days, totally different beast from what I have played before!.
I really thought I sucked at this, but from what I see, the game is difficult for everybody!.
Well, here is my score so far:
AOF - 5,820,240 - 1-5 - Max Hit: 40 - Type B
PS: Hey Smraedis, how long did it take for you to start winning 1-4 relatively easily? I still can't feel comfortable in it.

Finally in the top ten!
The biggest accomplishment of this playthrough, though, was getting a 1LC on the first loop! As you can infer, I did awful in the second loop. Thought for sure I was going to at least make it to 2-5, but 2-4 is really rough.
