Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card

Am trying to use my Xbox 360 with this via HDMI, have selected, w=1920, h=1080, fps=59.94, fcc=YUY2, bit=16 but i get this message...

the card cannot capture 1080p60, so you probably have to set your XBox to 1080i60 and define the timing as 1080p29.97.

yeah just worked that out, so ill capture in 720p, im now trying w=1280, h= 720, fps=59.94, fcc=YUY2, bit=16, but im getting a strange display problem large part of the screen are cut off and the left half of the screen has a strange scanline effect added to it.....



any ideas what causing that?

Ive change the 360 to display 720p now, and the problem has gone. I thought you could leave the 360 in 1080p and the capture card would downscale it to 720p but it appears not. Have noticed some video lag aswell whilst doing quick time events in RE6

Quick question about using Windows Movie maker, i have created a custom setting of 1280x720 30fps and 10000kbps for bitrate. When WMM has finished encoding the video and i play it back in WMP the video is boxed and doesn't fill the whole screen, is there an option so its full screen and doesn't have borders around the edges??

Sorted, had to changed the aspect ratio in one of the tabs along the top, it defaults to 4:3 even though you select 1280x720!!

So they decided to call it SC-512N1 now.

Maybe the 510N1 doesn't support passthrough of the incoming signals, while only the 512N1 has support for the shown output daughterboard. The external XCapture looks sexy as well!

That new Micomsoft card has been mentioned many times here but under the name SC-510N1
So they decided to call it SC-512N1 now.

It's a different card. SC-510N1 has PCIe x4, this card manages with PCIe x1 somehow. Passthrough is an awesome feature though. But until release date and price get published there's not much to talk about.

Do you have Aero deactivated? If it's on there should be no screen tearing (but you might get a few milliseconds more lag).

Yes, untick that and the screen tearing will be gone.

Is it ok to add, "w=1280, h= 720, fps=60.00, fcc=YUY2, bit=32" so i get 32bit colour, as at the moment its set to bit=16

I don't think that the FCC and color depth actually change anything. But I'm pretty sure that you want to change the fps to 59.94 unless you're recording from a PC that is set to exactly 60.00 Hz.

I didn't remember seeing it in this topic. I did recall seeing one that you mentioned about the next card so I assumed that it was just for that and not this. That would appear to be my mistake though.

Im after some assistance please, im using AmarecTV to capture @ 720p some Xbox 360 gameplay videos using HDMI cable from the Micomsoft card to the 360 with the xbox set to 720p also, i am using the Huffyuv codec with these setting....



And the general settings for amarecTV......



I have then used Windows Movie maker and processed the video at..

1280x720
6000kbps bitrate
30fps

And this is how the video turns out....

But it appears to be really soft and not sharp at all, any ideas on what i can do to improve the quality upping the bitrate doesnt seem to change anything??

Assuming your captured video is alot sharper than the YT video, don't forget that YT encoding quality is also dependant on the resolution. 1080p allows for a greater bitrate being used by YT.

IIRC the limit for 720p stuff is around 5500kbps.

Would you suggest setting Windows Movies Maker to 1920x1080 rather than 1280x720 then would that make the video sharper then even though the Micomsoft card can only capture up to 720p?

So setting the bitrate to anything higher than 5500kbps is a waste?, whats the bitrate limit for 1080p video?

Apparently the bitrate for 1080p will go up to 10k - that's what I use on my 1080p stuff.

No, only stereo sound. But you can get an HDMI splitter for a few euros (30-50€ I think). In your advanced settings you have activated the color H adjustment for component, this isn't needed for HDMI video. In fact this setting hasn't done anything positive to my video quality on any source (I've got the original SC-500N1).

About the Youtube bitrates. 6000 kb/s are perfectly fine for 720p video. You can get great quality at that bitrate, at least with x264. There's really no need to upscale stuff to 1080p, in most cases you'll only decrease the video quality.

Hi, quick question (I hope).

I ran across a youtube video where the uploader says the sc-500n1 has problems with 15khz material: http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?thr ... pIbLheBa6c Specifically, he says that the field order is incorrect, and that you can't capture at >30fps.

I haven't seen anyone here mention bad field order for 480i, nor have I seen anyone mentioning a framerate cap for 15khz. 30fps for 480i material does make sense, but I would think the card would be capable of capturing at 59.94fps for 240p material.

I'm guessing Supernova 2 outputs 480i if it's displaying at 15khz, so the input is interlaced and you simply need to software deinterlace the image for it to appear normal.

It's not just a matter of interlace, look at it carefully, the field order is wrong.
