I just tried out my regular NTSC SNES and I don't get this problem. So it's definitely something to do with the SNES jr. Anyone have an idea why this is happening?opt2not wrote:Anyone have any issues with playing Street Fighter II: Turbo on an SNES jr. with the Framemeister? I do have a sync separator circuit within my scart cable, but this is the only game I've found so far that seems to wig-out. Any ideas?
Leon, have you tried using an older revision N64 modded RGB console with a CSYNC line? Maybe the XRGB doesn't like signal coming from Tim's board? Also, do the jail bars worsen when de-blur and 15 bit are enabled? I'd test these myself but my XRGB is lent out at the moment.leonk wrote:Passive for me too..
I actually took the pig tail adapter that came with the XRGB mini and rewired it from JP21 to Euro Scart and made sure all the ground points are there and solid.
I got no issues with SNES Mini with simple RGB amp, Neo Geo AES, Sega Genesis nor NESRGB. As already mentioned, N64RGB modded N64 console with composite video into XRGB is clean.
Curiouser and curiouser. So the N64RGB is experiencing jail bars while the RGB modded N64 is not? Very interesting!FBX wrote:I recall my 7314 RGB modded N64 had a clean picture on the Framemeister. The new HDMI N64 I have also has an RGB analog mod, so I will check it as well.
Edit: Yep, clean there as well (uses Voultar's 7374 mod kit).
Voultar's mod is same as 7314 - it only works with NS1xxxx consoles. You are relying on N64 generated RGB and sync signal. The N64RGB generates its own RGB and CSYNC output.FBX wrote:I recall my 7314 RGB modded N64 had a clean picture on the Framemeister. I wasn't disputing any of that; just reporting those mods appear clean on the Framemeister.leonk wrote:Voultar's mod is same as 7314 - it only works with NS1xxxx consoles. The OSSC is probably your best bet as far as wait time during cut scenes, but I do prefer the look of the XRGB mini`s handling of 480i over the OSSC`s `Bob effect`. I wouldn`t buy a `cheapo` scaler. If anything, just run Silent Hill on your PS2 with component cables - your tv will most likely treat the signal as 480i anyways.jamisonia wrote:Only tangentially XRGB related, but what is the best upscaling solution for games that switch between 240p and 480i, such as Silent Hill? I was thinking of just getting one of the cheapo solutions that treats 240p as 480i and just dealing for that one game.
Ok coolChocograph wrote:PC emulators.
Very heavily dependent on your TV though. The OSSC might switch instantly, but it still triggers a resolution change where it's up to your TV how long that will take and wether you get a ugly OSD shown every time the game changes resolution.CaveManGamer wrote:The OSSC is probably your best bet as far as wait time during cut scenes, but I do prefer the look of the XRGB mini`s handling of 480i over the OSSC`s `Bob effect`. You know Voultar doesn't use a 7314.. So you're actually comparing an older 7314 design to a newer 7374.Hoagtech wrote:I just got the 7314 back from voultar and will be doing a review against the n64 you modded for me 3 years back with my smaller TI board.
It wasn't super noticeable but the colors and background solid color noise is noticeably better on the voultars so far.

I started working on them last month, but then got sidetracked with NES palette work. That work just wrapped up, but now I'm down with the flu on top of a stack of graphic design orders I must finish within in the next few weeks. I'd say give me a week and I'll be well enough to upload what I've been working on currently, which is the major standard systems like SNES, Genesis, Master System, etc. (I believe NES is already included in the current package).MetalMilitia wrote:Hey FBX, any word on the 720p profiles? Sorry to hear about the flu! Hope you're feeling better. Thanks for the update!FBX wrote:I started working on them last month, but then got sidetracked with NES palette work. In newest firmware, play in GAME1 mode until solution is found.Lebeauluc wrote:I am jumping in this thread, because I am having jailbars issue with my N64RGB using csync cable on the mini. I downgraded the firmware to correct the issue, but I have not tried LTR profiles with newer firmware.
I was only passing by to see if there was a solution to this problem and adding my count to the list of those having this issue. By the way, I ordered my kit from Tim in 2016 and I am using a canadian NUS-CPU-04 revision.
Can anyone help me out with this? It sucks that I can't play the same games on my jr., that I can on my regular SNES. Is there any more info I can give to help debug this issue?opt2not wrote:I just tried out my regular NTSC SNES and I don't get this problem. So it's definitely something to do with the SNES jr. Got it loaded up right now on my SNES jr, and it plays perfectly in either my 4x or 5x profile. No issues whatsoever during the character select screen. However (and I don't know if this makes a difference), mine is modded with the newer 7374 RGB amp board (with filter turned off).
Also I'm using the upgraded Csync cable from Retro_Console_Accessories, and I use a passive adapter into the Framemeister.
Perhaps try a passive solution with no sync stripper and see if there's a difference?
