I'm probably going to go ahead and wait until the entire thing is done myself, even though that'll probably be a while. I don't like getting too involved in a story when I have to wait like that. The way Violence Jack is going I'll be able to just translate it myself since it's nigh on 40 volumes, and I think the translator stopped at Volume 3. :(
He draws his ladies (and stuff in general) like a sorta Matsumoto and Cyborg 009 guy combination, which is cool. I suppose he throws in a bit of Mazinger/Go Nagai flair/badassery into his stuff too :).

The biggest manga translation tragedy is Area 88 ffs, when I think of the amount of utter shite that is regularly scanlated, it breaks your heart.

To be fair, Bleach only takes them about 30 seconds to translate. Most of that is the OS overhead of manually opening the .zip and such.

I've gotta be honest here. Bleach would be better localized without bothering with any translation. Just make up shit for the characters to say. It'd be more accurate

Oh my god. Bleach is a series of 8 year olds fighting each other with imaginary powers, one upping one another in the style of "I hit you with my lasers, you fall down now" "nuh uh, I got laser proof armor" "since when?!" "five seconds ago" variety. We all know this. Especially with the neon signs pointing to it when The Plucky Shounen Hero was revealed to be a ninja ghost samurai robot crystal alien nuclear Jesus. Nothing means anything.

But Kubo has truly entered a new level of troll. Look at this shit. You need to know this exists.

He just put fuckin' GOOGLY EYES on his Big Bad.

I investigated Bleach forums to observe the posts consisting of "HAHAHAHAHAHHA"... which have proven difficult to find. Perhaps fans of Bleach do not have a sense of humor?

Those are just good examples of beyond-average shounen manga/anime that should have ended with first season/arc.
Like most should have actually.
But money.

haha well I know that - and I know that 90% of any anime convention in this country consists of people with metal plates on their foreheads and fucking cat make-up.

Don't forget the growing crowd of 20-something years old men cosplaying Touhou girlies and dancing on hysterical fan-made music. Heard they've invaded every frigging event now, even those only very remotely related to video games.

From experience I can verify that this is correct. Lines upon lines of this, even dedicated photo shoots. Anime conventions are only for the young anymore, which is why I gave it up. I cosplayed as Kenshiro from HnK and some teenage girls asked me if I was Chuck Norris. Never again.

*Kenshiro

I think I just got really sad and just drank more rootbeer schnapps. Left early the next day. Worst experience ever.

I will let you know that my father proposed to marathon Gundam (first trilogy), Ideon and Evangelion, when he will visit and meet my younger brother- and sister-in-law for the first time.
He literally said: "because Tomino is the only one who gets spirit of Christmas right".
"The only desire the Culture could not satisfy from within itself was one common to both the descendants of its original human stock and the machines [...]: the urge not to feel useless."

8 Man After

Excellent cyber-crime OVA, with heavy-doses of Robocop inspiration. I always have mad love for hard-boiled detectives, bio-tech thugs, and pumpin' electric soundtracks. The dub is charming hearing a lot of familiar voices (the guy who played Eddieban in Mad Bull 34 once again plays a Japanese cop with a New York accent, lol). Very "urban" in the best possible way.

It's a lot of fun! Surprising they could do such a gritty update to an innocuous 50s cartoon.

Oh dear, a new season when they made a a farewell movie? This is a clear proof that Gintama is the bestest manga/anime ever.

it's a lot slower than GaoGaiGar - it is however a masterpiece once it finishes - especially 'Be Invoked'.
