4. It has one of the best posters for ANY Godzilla film!

Nah, that was Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster. Megalon's the one with the sweet drop kick.CMoon wrote:Is Megalon the one where Godzilla flies?

The Showa stuff is the best for sure. I haven't even seen the more recent stuff except for parts of Final Wars and it looks like Sci-Fi channel fare to me. I'll get to them though when I make my way there eventually. I tried to watch Frankenstein Conquers the World but I can't get my subtitles working right.drauch wrote:Godzilla Vs Megalon - Wow. Probably sacrilege to some of the elite Kaiju fans, but man, out of the 20 Godzilla films I've seen, this may be my new favorite. 60s and 70s era Gojira really make me happy; they're so much fun. Light-hearted, lots of monster battles, and usually a pretty obscure human sub-plot. The dream team of Jet Jaguar and Godzilla makes me cherish friendship and loyalty more than ever--kinda like John Woo. I want to go give thumbs up to everyone I know and shake their hands after we kick someone's ass.
Especially when Cage is involved.GaijinPunch wrote:rock-solid 4/10's are the best 4/10's out there!It gets a rock-solid 4/10 from me.

It's worth seeing. The human side of the story is pretty dry, but the updated Mechagodzilla is great to see in action. It also has some of the best city destruction scenes since Invasion of Astromonster.drauch wrote:I've yet to try Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, though.
Sounds interesting. I will have to track it down.system11 wrote:Just watched 'Inbred'. It's your now typical redneck horror torture effort, but the difference is that it's set in Yorkshire in the UK. Lots of stereotypes, several homages to films past, it sets out to be trashy, repulsive, cruel and funny. I enjoyed it, I guess it's a 6.5/10 or so - more of a hit than a miss. Some of the scenes are legitimately uncomfortable too.
La Jetee was (maybe still is?) my favorite film--certainly still the most romantic film for me. I haven't explored much of Marker's stuff outside of Sans Soleil, either, so let me know if you find anything good.Klatrymadon wrote:This DVD comes with La Jetée, so that's up next, methinks.
LMAO -- exactly what I thought!jonny5 wrote:Sounds interesting. I will have to track it down.system11 wrote:Just watched 'Inbred'. I still need to watch this. I might as well bite the bullet and get a Netflix account to watch it.La Jetee was (maybe still is?) my favorite film--certainly still the most romantic film for me.
