Blink: Rogues - Competitive PvP shmup

Post by FoxDiveStudio »

Hello everybody,

We'd like to introduce you to our brain baby, Blink: Rogues, a PvP shmup that we've been working on for the past year. The demo can be downloaded here until we get it on Steam: https://gamejolt.com/games/Blink_Rogues/284186

We're a team of 4 people (most of us coming from the games industry) and we're using Unreal to develop the game. Except the sound effects (which were bought), everything in the game was made by us so we would really appreciate your expert opinion on what we managed to create until now.

The game is mainly focused on the 1vs1 mode as it's really fun to play with someone or simply against the AI, but there will also be a single player campaign.
The PvP and the first mission from the single player campaign are available in the demo build (along with a rough tutorial to teach you all the needed mechanics).

The PvP mode revolves around 5 minute matches where you have to gather more points than your opponent. This can be achieved by killing mobs or by fragging your opponent. Every 1 minute, you get 10 seconds to blink in your opponent's window and steal his mobs or kill him. You also have timed events (bosses and mega health packs that spawn at predefined times) that you need to keep track of as they give great bonuses so blink management is a must.
There are 4 weapons: machine-gun (which is default), shotgun, rockets and rail-gun, each with their own pros and cons.
To help with the diversity, we also have 4 super powers that charge over time: EMP, Double Damage, Invulnerability and Shockwave.

The single player campaign is rather classic, with the twist that it can be played either coop with someone or simply with the AI. It, of course, has a story which drives the action.

As business model, we intend to leave the multiplayer free and have the single player paid. Once ready, the game will be on Steam.

This is in short the description of our beloved Blink.
Since we're terribly close to the game having been working on it for all this time, we really need objective opinions from players that know the genre very well so any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated.
Also, in case you really like the game and what we're trying to do, it would be absolutely amazing if you could lend us a hand with the Indiegogo campaign (either by contributing or by sharing it): https://igg.me/at/blinkrogues/x/15761007
We're trying to raise enough to pay for the administrative parts and to cover the things we can't do ourselves but like with most indie devs that are starting up, our main issue is that we're almost invisible at this point.

Thanks a million,
Fox Dive Team
