Any interested in a Shmupmeet in Germany?

Post by Edge »

Just curious, because I see several people from Germany on this board.

So anyone interested?

Maybe a meet in the capital in Berlin. :P

Offcourse everyone from another country would be welcome too. ;)

Sounds good to me. I could get to Berlin quite quickly from Hamburg.

I don't live in Germany at the moment, but I might be back home for a little while in March.

EDIT: Does everyone from Germany here also visit the Triggerzone boards?

I don't visit Triggerzone.

Hey Seven Force, how come you live in Japan, you studying "Japanologie"?
Last year I have been to Tokyo for 8 days and I didn't want to return home at all. :)

With Berlin as the location I was more joking around. I'd appreciate a meet in Berlin, but unfortunatelly I live in a small flat with not much space. Any other suggestions where we could meet? Too bad there are no real arcades in Germany... :?

You should check out Triggerzone sometime. One of the people there is setting up an arcade in Munich (more as a hobby that supports itself), I'm sure there'll be regular meetings/competitions there, as the shmupping scene in Germany is actually quite big (many members here too).

I'm not studying anymore, and actually I never studied "Japanologie", although my Japanese is quite decent.
I'm looking for a job here. Some things are better in Germany, but for the time I'd much rather like to live in Japan. :)

I have read about the one who wanted to open an retro arcade in Munich. It was der Held, right? So did he opened this arcade?
I'd like to visit it, but unfortunatelly I have no car and going by DB "weekend ticket" from Berlin to Munich is REALLY painful.

Maybe I'll check out Triggerzone in the next days...

Seven Force, what German city(ies) do you visit in March?

And.. uhm... I hope I don't derail the thread, but I am quite interested in how you came to live in Japan. :D

You know, I'd love to live there one day too. So don't you need a working "visa" or did you become a Japanese citizen? How did you do that? Married a Japanese girl,... ... that would be the jackpot for me. :P

What kind of job are you doing and in what city do you live?

If I may ask these questions, they are a bit personal...

As you can see, most of us speak english, though ;D
I would be totally in for a shmupmeet in Berlin.
But i have just one lousy old 90's cab with Raiden in it, and a 60m² flat.
So i guess some other guy's place, unless you bring cabs ^^
But on the bright side, i've got a mall like 50m from my place.
So getting beer and stuff shouldn't be a problem

As far as I'm informed he has not more but a Saturn and Garegga at his flat
But if someone could bring a MAK+Supergun, maybe we could organize some monitors and improvise :)

Wow, that makes even my place better
I have a 32" LCD TV, a modded PS2, Wii, Xbox360...
Maybe someone could bring a Dreamcast, then we could play GigaWing2 in 4p Mode xD
But my cab is really old and awful. Here's a pic.

I have Guitar Hero III as well, if someone cares xD

I just moved to Berlin, so all my games, systems and PCBs are still in Munich. As AVE said, currently I only have a Saturn and a couple of games here. Don't know yet when I'll move the other stuff to Berlin.

I'm definitely up for a shmupsmeet tho.

I have lots of shooters, mainly for Saturn and MD plus some PS2, DC and *cough* Famicom stuff. I could bring it by car, though I don't know yet if it wasn't cheaper to come by train. In that case, I couldn't carry much with me.

When would you guys want to meet? Personally I'd consider (late) October as a good time as I'm away untill mid of october and everything earlier might be a bit last-minute.

Late October? That screams for a "Ketsui DS in the park" session ^^
I am willing to host a shmupmeet, if my stuff is enough for you.
When my place is not as messy anymore, i could post some pics.
Would be a BYOB party, though ;D
@CIT: We should meet sometime and get to know each other.
'cause i don't know that much people with interest in shmups.

Hey there, I am the new kid on the board. :P

I would be thrilled to meet other "shmuppies" here in Berlin too,
as my mates don´t play shooters / videogames at all.

I am still diggin´ DonPachi and seriously need action support!!!

Wow, I was just browsing the forums randomly.
And was surprised how this thread has been revived. Esspecially pleased to see you guys are planning a shmupmeet in Berlin.

I haven't played many shmups reccently, but I would be eager to join. Or just to meet other shmup / arcade gaming fans in Berlin. :)

So are you still up for a meeting at the end of October?

Yes i am. Maybe a bit earlier. (Hab ja auch Herbstferien als Student, das würde passen)
So yeah, i hereby invite you guys to my micro-shmupmeet at my flat in berlin at the treptower park.
It will probably be held around the end of the month.
I am aiming for a saturday.
We basically only have my living room as free space, so it can't be a lot of people.
Bring your own beer and food, please - i am poor ^^"
Additionally we could use a supergun (or someone who brings a small tv and a second supergun), 2 PS2 or USB arcade sticks, a dreamcast with twinkle star and of course some nice pcbs.

i have a chipped ps2, chipped wii (SNES emulating goodness), flashed xbox360, 2x NDSL, and a computer with mame that's hooked up to my 32" HDTV.
Sven666, still interested in this shmupmeet? ;)
pictures to follow soonish.

Hmmm, not too sure about it... :(
Perhaps, we should go for another mini-meet this weekend as I probably won´t have much time on the 25th due to uni. stuff....

What happened to the others then? All busy that day?

I already contated Jockel by pm and told him I am unfortunatelly busy on the 25th. Because I am having my birthday party at that day. But we probably are going to meet outside of the big event.

And if there might be not enough people this time, we might get ourselfes together for another meet spring next year...? Esspeccially if we have already a little Berlin shmup community who knows each other in RL a big meeting will be more easy to accomplish. :)
