London Meet

Post by DEL »

A proposed London Meet in my local arcade, you know the one  , Casino Arcade in Central London.

Bloodflowers and I have been discussing this for a while. European Mainland members are more than welcome to attend.

Anyone interested?

Of course it's ok for me, right now i'm technically "across the pond"
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

I'd love it, but as I mentioned in the other (Euro Shmupmeet) thread let's first decide on a decent time frame to give everyone the time to prepare for it (taking days off from work/school and setting money aside for the trip).
What time of the year are we talking here? I'd personally love a meet late march / early april. Let's all pour in date/time ok?

Though I'm not in mainland Europe I'd love to attend. It'd be cool to meet Laydock and Rando and maybe witness -M-'s infamous Strikers 1945 two-loop clear. There's no way for me to afford the flight though, so I guess I'm out.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

end of March is Easter holiday, I don´t know how it is internationally, but around here a few days (friday and monday afaik) are legally decided to be work-free. Personally, I´d prefer a later date, to afford it easier, but I´ll try to come whenever it is decided to be.

I witnessed miller doing this in the Troc about a year ago, was truly poetry in motion.

Btw. I can make it to london on most saturdays, im only 90minutes away on the train.

London Meet

Post by DEL »

Ok Guys,

A good response so far...

I'll throw some dates at you:-

Sat March 19th or
Sat April 2nd
Sat April 9th
Sat April 23rd or indeed later.

Yes of course Mills will come down and do a Strikers 1945 Double Looper for your viewing pleasure!
Unfortunately, Rando & I won't be able to show 6D ALLs on Border Down in the Trocadero arcade, as it was recently taken out and replaced with a Tekken 5.

Its no Akihabara round here, but here's what we've got:-
CASINO ARCADE
Mushihimesama with a new 'super modded' joystick on the 1P side,
Raiden Fighters 1
Raiden Fighters Jet
Strikers 1945 Plus
Progear
Night Raid
and on Multi-Game Cab: Gemini Wing and the one I'm currently getting back into = Prehistoric Isle 1.
Sadly, Giga Wing Generations blew up and was sent back to Japan
OXFORD ST ARCADE
DDP II Beestorm
TROCADERO ARCADE
Strikers 1945
Twin Cobra II
and on Multi-Game Cab: Storm Blade, Varth
---------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know what you think 'Date-Wise'?

I figure we have yet to hear from: elbarto, TC, Leeram, Broken Divide, Df0notfound etc etc...etc
(Oh and Ex-Mosquito - in answer to your question, I'm there most every day after work, practising Mush, but I won't be there this Sat.)

Regs, DEL

Ok then,

April 23 would suit me better than late march/early april I guess (enough time to practice and save up some money for this trip).
So my vote goes to the april 23/24 weekend! I'm quite flexible though! :)

Oh an I could show off my 3 CC of stage 1 of Mushihimesama (I hope)

I'd love to attend, but I don't know if I'll be able to put aside enough money for the trip in time.

April 23rd would suit me best, but unfortunately, even then I can't guarantee to be able to make it.

Any is fine with me more or less - sometimes I'm on call, so I'd have to arrange cover.

The Meet

Post by DEL »

Ok, Sat. April 23rd is the provisional date for now.

Its early days - Attendees have a full 2 months to save up for the trip.

(Super Laydock - Train Hard!! - Mills expects to see you benchin' 160kgs & Looping at least 2-6 on Strikers 1945 Plus by the 23rd!)

I'll do whatever I can to be there mate :)

I'm between jobs right now, so if I get a new one before then, it might be out of my hands.. I need to PM you and sort out a meeting before then anyway, so you can show me how to play Mushi properly, lol

elbarto - Good to hear from you! Hope you get a new job soon! Seems like times are rough all over these days - so many people with money troubles at the moment. The general wage system on this Planet sucks! The average wage is pitched at the subsistence level and no more. Seems like the only way to get ahead properly is to go self-employed. Of course this is easier said than done.

I digress...

elbarto - I'd be happy to show you Mush, but don't expect me to show you how to mega-chain it. I don't know how yet. All I can do is 1CC Maniac Mode & Original Mode. I can't chain for toffee! :?

Look forward to seeing you at the Meet (or earlier)!

All the Best,

ynohtna - Of course, feel free, and don't worry about all this macho skills talk, it'll just be a fun meet.

Sat. APRIL 23RD is still the date.

Ok, since I can't be too early asking this: I've gotten a week off around the april 23rd weekend so I really hope this date will stay. I will hold out on booking the flight/hotel for a month though in case people change their mind.

@DEL: the benchin I could do (like in 2 sessions  ), but don't expect me anywhere past 1-3 on 1945 Plus. ;)

Since you too (and possibly Randorama now he's in Holland :?) would very likely be traveling through Schiphol Airport if we go so I guess we should arrange stuff time coming.
I am sure it'll be lots of fun! :)

Looking good for April 23rd then.

Yes it would probably be a good idea for the Netherlands Team to travel together.

Hope Raiden and Supa T are still on (German Team  ).

Mills has confirmed his interest for the Meet.

I'll be most certainly be able to get some time off work, so I'd be happy to attend the shmupmeet. If you want me around, that is.

Traveling from Hamburg will be easy and inexpensive. Which way will the rest of the 'German team' travel. Raiden? Supa T? Any chance we could travel together? (Braunschweig and Cologne are not quite 'around the corner'.)

Hm, yes. But I can travel for free to HH (university ticket). And the connection is pretty good (about 2,5h). What´s the best way to travel?

I´m not sure yet. Either I´m taking the plane, or I could try http://www.mitfahrgelegenheit.de to get to Hamburg, so we can meet there. My parents happen to live near Braunschweig (@supaT: could it be we met already? Did I buy a Strikers 1945 II PCB from you?), so maybe I could even get there first. But it´s hard to plan for me right now, not sure about anything.

Am definitely interested, worth it if only to witness S1945 ALL, and see mushihime again. Did the Troc get rid of Border Down altogether now, or is just out of action for a while? Seems a few machines disappear and reappear there every so often? Real shame if its gone for good......and by tekken 5 no less.
23rd sounds good, cheers DEL

April 23rd is still the date.

Ex_Mosquito - You°re absolutely right, Casino first then Trocadero later to view Mills do a Strikers 1945 ALL. I think he would like you to record his 2nd loop.

Brokendivide - Glad to see you°re aboard! Border Down is MIA at the moment. I know the engineers there & will ask where it is.

Euro Teams  - We will keep it to April 23rd unless you "collectively" can°t make it on that date.
