Ex_Mosquito - You°re absolutely right, Casino first then Trocadero later to view Mills do a Strikers 1945 ALL. I think he would like you to record his 2nd loop.

Brokendivide - Glad to see you°re aboard! Border Down is MIA at the moment. I know the engineers there & will ask where it is.

Euro Teams  - We will keep it to April 23rd unless you "collectively" can°t make it on that date.
Excellent, i dont have a video camera though:x all i have is a digicam with a 30 second limit and a mates cam with 100seconds. I sure hope someone else has a cam they could bring along, we need to get Mills s1945 ALL recorded :)

Herr Schatten - Of course you're wanted! Pls contact Raiden & try to fly over.

Diabollokus - It would indeed be good to have a Northern Ireland contingent!

About 3 weeks ago, I asked John Sturges (Casino Owner) to get RAIDEN III in. He was a bit gruff and said; "If it doesn't cost too much." I'll keep pestering him and see what happens.

MORE INFO

Game Shops

GAME FOCUS:- Situated on Goodge St behind the arcade. This is a fairly good Import Shop. They get the latest STGs as soon as they are released and have a good range of older console titles eg. Sexy Parodius, R-Types Collection, DDPs etc.

CEX London Branch:- Again situated behind the arcade on the way to Oxford St. They don't get new STGs, but they have a RETRO section downstairs with some PCBs and a large amount of PCEngine/Neo Geo titles.

FOOD won't be a problem. I know some places in Chinatown (not costing more than £5.00/8 Euros). Chinatown is next to the Trocadero.
FAST FOOD is next door to Casino - KFC and the only kebab shop I trust in the whole of London, situated behind the arcade. TRUST ME :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex-Mosquito - Yes, we'll have to get someone to record Mills, he's been practising

Rando - You need to smuggle you're Ninja Butt out of Holland!!

sven666 - Yes, April 23rd is still the date. Now that I think of it, one of my old schoolfriends owns a hotel in Paddington (Central London). I'll see what discount he can offer & post the details on this thread ASAP.

Apologies for not thinking of this earlier!!

23rd April Update

Post by DEL »

As the old saying goes;

"Man cannot live on Mush alone."

More needs to be on offer

So....

CASINO ARCADE IMPROVEMENTS

STRIKERS 1945: Last night, Mills & I got the Casino Engineer Bob to re-install Strikers 1945. It is now in the Giga Wing Generations seated cab. The display is perfect, sound is fine and the joystick is 'loose but ok'. (Mills couldn't resist an ALL to test it out).

PROGEAR: This is an example of how several cabs in Casino have been left to go into disrepair. Progear was Blue, a lazy hue of Blue. It had lost all sound and was on hard skill level. Again we had Bob sort it out. It took a while, but Progear now has colours, some sharpness, sound and the skill level has been knocked back down.

STRIKERS 1999: Bloodflowers suggested that I ask Casino for use of a Cab on the day (23rd), so that we may chop n'change our PCBs. This isn't quite possible, BUT I'm pretty sure I can get Bob to install STRIKERS 1999 in the arcade 'before' the event.
Why 1999?
1. Because there's no console port of it.
2. Its good (despite my personal mild dislike of Psikyo bullet pattern positioning).
3. I'm curious to see what Mills will do with it?
4. BER must be lonely up there in the 1999 Rankings

Ok then I am seriously interested in booking a room at the hotel from DEL's
friend.
Are there other people thinking about this that want to save money?
If so maybe we could share rooms!? I am able to pay for the rooms by CC so if you do not have this possibiliy we can sort things out.
Please PM me before April 10 at the latest, so we can arrange it!

My flight is booked but I'll wait with the hotel to see if se can get a group discount.... :D

Sorry, I´ve compared prices with my current financial situation now, and I can´t afford even the flight this time, without anything else. Should be better next time, I sure hope so. Have a good time, all of you.

APRIL 23RD

Post by DEL »

I'm taking my STRIKERS 1999 PCB down to Casino today for installation. I may bring yet another game if Bob the engineer allows.

Raiden & sven - Sorry to hear you can't make it this time.

APRIL 23RD is set in stone. The London Meet will occur on that day.

So let's recap: who's coming for sure on the 23rd?

Post by Super Laydock »

Hi,

Since some people backed out/couldn't make it I was wondering who was still planning to come to London on the 23rd of April!

I'm there fore sure, as is Herr Schatten. DEL is a given too of course, but can people who will definitely be there please let us know too?

Would be nice to know who to expect! :D

I am quite looking forward to this! Staying over in London a few days playing some games I've never seen before, hanging out the tourist... should be really fun!

I can confirm I won't be there the exam dates at uni have been set with a clash on that period I'm afraid it makes things difficult.

Hope you guys enjoy it, I plan on getting to a group gamer event sometime.

Regards.

Still no job, so I should definitely be there. I'll probably be up there this Saturday as well.

I haven't seen TC online since the boards returned, so I sent him an email to let him know about it :)

Strikers 1999 is now installed (at the expense of RF1), but the cab needs quite a bit of maintenance. Hopefully it'll be sorted in time.

I'm looking forward to the meet even more after meeting up with DEL and ARC on Saturday, it was a pretty cool afternoon. I'm getting a little better at Mushihime, but the real highlight of the day had to be DEL's 1CC of maniac mode, racking up a new high score of 121 million in the process (and on his first go of the day, too.. )

Not long to go now 8)

NEXT SAT-23rd APRIL

Post by DEL »

GOOD NEWS! A new Multigame Cab is being installed into Casino Arcade tonight. From what I've seen of it so far, its similar to the X Box Emus with a perfectly crystal clear display. I'll list the relevant games on it tomorrow.

The Strikers 1999 monitor will be fixed on Friday 22nd.

Remember - The Meet is this Sat April 23rd - all day.

Location: Casino Arcade next to Goodge St Tube station on The Northern Line, situated on Tottenham Court Road.

I might not be able to make it now, I'll see what happens. I've been put on-call at work that weekend....

By the way, enjoy the slowdown on the multigame cab - I played one of the early units at Electrocoin.

Bloodflowers - here's hoping that you can still make it 8) .

One thing's for sure; when you're arranging group meetings, there will always be people who can't make it. No matter what weekend is chosen.

No date is suitable for absolutely everybody. All you can do is set a date.

Anyway, rest assured, there will be a certain number of guaranteed attendees on Sat

TIME OF THE LONDON MEET/SATURDAY 23RD APRIL

It will be pretty much an all day event, so you can turn up as early as you like. Your decision might depend on how much play time you wish to get on Mushihimesama?

The Arcade opens at around 10am, at which time I expect ARM to be getting in his ULTRA MODE practice

12noon onwards for all you non-ultra mode fanatics!

Wow, it really has been a fantastic weeknd in London as far as I am concerned!
Defenite high point being the shmupmeet on Saturday at the Casino Arcade.
Very impressive to finally play Mushi!
But even more impressive was it to watch DEL on this game (Absolutely amazing what he was able to pull off...:D). ARC and ARM both gave some impressive play on the game as well, and I could only pray for being even near as good as any of these guys on the game... :?
DEL even "casually" 1CCed the game to show off his skill

Another really impressive feature that day was to see Mills 1CC both loops of Strikers 1945! Amazing to see this guy in action and an unbelievable accomplishment (well believable because I even recorded the second loop on video :)).

All in all this has been a fantastic day! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank and greet everyone who attended this meet and made it the success it was!

Oh, btw took a picture of Mushi's highscore table:

Image

:)

PS. if anyone has the space & bandwith to host the Superplay by Mills of the second Strikers 1945 loop then please let me know as I have no option to host it myself... (it's around 76MB!)

I think I saw you all there the other week when I went in to play Mushi... I didn't stop when I saw it being crowded around as I wanted to have a quick go and push off.

I might turn up for the next one... Its such a shame the cabs are so shit in that place, they have so many good games...

Meet

Post by DEL »

No worries ill6, but you really should have let your curiosity get the best of you and asked one of us what was going on around the Mushihimesama cab. Instead of just walking out.
Thanks to our old friend Michael Campbell, we're getting an autofire circuit attached to Mush A + C buttons on Fri/Sat this week  This should even-out the playing field.

Ps. ill6 - There's another Mushihimesama cab in the arcade outside Angel tube Stn.

Yeah, I was slightly baffled about the amount of people!

I noticed they had one the other day but I didn't have enough time to play it there.

I really like Mushi, too bad I have never got beyond level 4 (on Normal!)
