Guelph Shmup / Arcade / Mahjong / Whatever Meet! - Feb 24, 2024

Post by BareKnuckleRoo »

This thread's for announcing meet plans in Guelph. I host at my place where I've got a couple of cabs, an automatic mahjong table, etc.

Check the latest post in this thread for details on the next scheduled meet!

Awesome! :D I'll try and make it but I don't have a car so need to look into if there are any buses/trains that I can take. Never been to Guelph before. Also, if anyone is driving from Toronto and is willing to give me a ride then that would be much appreciated (I'll chip in a few dollars for gas)!

If anyone wants me to bring a PCB, I can certainly do that. I have:
Spoiler
CAVE
• Deathsmiles MBL
• DFK BL
• Futari BL
• Futari BL (Another ver.)

PGM
• DDP 2: Bee Storm
• Demon Front
• Knights of Valor 2

Capcom
• Street Fighter II: Dash
• Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge
• Hyper Street Fighter II

The only issue is the Hori cab only has 5 buttons currently (can easily move extras over from the vert) and neither cab has wiring to the sixth button. I'd need some help wiring up the necessary kick harness if anyone brings over any 6 buttons games. ;__;

Strikers 1999 or Gunbird 2 would be cool too.

What the heck is "Weather Tales"?

It's a vs-centric colour-matching puzzle game with claymation graphics.

I think Moh has Strikers in Mississauga.

Wow, that's quite a list :) That would be awesome! I haven't played the PCB for any of the puzzle games and I'm quite bad at Batrider and Gunbird 2 (although I really enjoy them, need to put more time into them at some point). If I could vote I'd vote for either a Mr. Driller game (haven't played any of the Mr. Driller games so would be fun to try one out), Gunbird 2, Aqua Rush, Bomb Jack Twin or Mushihimetama but feel free to bring any game :)

I'll bring Deathsmiles MBL.

I'm surprised Brentz hasn't shown you Mr. Driller, it's one of his favourites!

Mr. Driller's awesome! I'd totally have a go at it. I've asked for Aqua Rush to be brought since it's one of my faves, and I want to test it to make sure it works on my Net City before buying a copy (tried to test my Futari PCBs which refuse to VSync on it).

Huh. Just learned that NMK was formed by ex-tecmo developers that made Bombjack. Totally explains why they resurrected "another company's" franchise after many years with Bombjack Twin!

Nice! Between you me and Moh that makes three Aqua Rush owners in a small area. :D

Mrhide, you're local? You're certainly welcome to come to the next meet, all we do is chill and play cool arcade games. There are sometimes meets in Toronto and Waterloo as well.

I want to play more VS Aqua Rush. The secret Endless mode is also a lot of fun.

Anyone up for more games soon? Maybe next weekend? I'm gonna try and mess with the monitor, see if I can fix the screen, might be a wiring issue.

Sorry, I probably won't be able to make it for a meet in August... :( Have lots of stuff going on and a friend of mine from Sweden is also coming over to visit. Starting September I should be good!

Anyone interested in hanging out in September? Throw out some dates and we can organize something!

Otherwise I'll just pick a date and say whoever shows, shows. :P

GUELPH SHMUPMEET - SATURDAY, SEPT 24

Post by BareKnuckleRoo »

OKAY HERE WE GO:

Let's do a meet on the 24th. Parking's on the road, PM me for the address, etc. Anytime after 11 AM to whenever!

If anyone wants PC gaming on the TV, I can have Streets of Rage Remake, Risk of Rain, etc, ready to go (there's a shitty media PC under it currently but I can easily move the gaming rig).

Still haven't had a chance to get the Hori cab looked at so apologies if the games you bring look like they're in GARISH colour modes.

Did you want your Hokuto no Ken board back? It's lived in my cab for a while now (through a Mania 1cc~), still trying to learn non-Shin characters and learn to dribble with Shin.

Awesome! :D Hopefully I'll play better this time lol. Got a new Stage 2 route that's more difficult but has a higher scoring potential. I'll bring my TE FightStick for SoRR. That's going to be super sweeet!
