London Meet II

Post by DEL »

The next London Meet will be soon.

Why?

Mainly because KETSUI is now in Casino Arcade and is on loan from ill6 for a limited period of time.

The Casino Engineer Bob wishes to re-vamp the video game section of the arcade. He recently came to me for a shortlist of PCBs that will win-back customers. Needless to say, I had to put VS games at the top of the list ie. Tekken 5 & Thirdstrike. Due to the fact that VS/beat'em up players outnumber shoot'em up players by 10 to 1 in the London arcades. As a result, Tekken 5 has been bought & Thirdstrike will be re-installed. KETSUI is the first of the shooters to be installed. There will be more to be installed before the Meet.

Current titles in the arcade; Ketsui, Mushihimesama, Progear, RF Jet, RF I, Strikers 1945 Plus, Night Raid. Multigame cab: Gemini Wing, Prehistoric Isle, Chelnov and for Bloodflowers - New Pinball by Stern: "Grand Prix" - arrived on friday & "The Sopranos."

The venue is Casino Arcade on London's Tottenham Court Road, again.

I'll propose some dates;

SAT 12th November or
SAT 19th Nov
SAT 26th Nov

reply if you're interested.

Can't make any of those dates unfortunately but I'm taking a trip to London with a couple of mates to do the 'cades on the 30th October. Can't wait to go to Casino again, especially if the screens and joysticks are working, which they weren't last time I went, I'm not being unfair but paying for a game when the screen doesn't work leaves a sour taste.

OMG, I just thought! Are you open on Sundays? Are any of the 'cades open on Sundays? I never thought about that, I'm having palputations. Does anyone know?

Cheers

I am certainly interested in attending the second edition. At the moment I am not in the position to tell whether I'll be able to make it one of the proposed weekends. I'll drop the ball of getting an extra weekend off at work though.

PS. any chance of persuading the engineer to look into getting Senko no Ronde? It has the best of both worlds I guess and might interest VS players as well as shmuppers!

Just a thought though. :)

I'll be there, should be able to make any weekend now :)

Super Laydock - Hopefully you can attend, would be nice to meet you again (same goes for Herr Schatten)

Sopranos' Pinball is pretty cool, but I'm no good at it

EDIT for Leeram: Casino is open on Sundays, not sure what time it closes though.

Meet II

Post by DEL »

The date for the Meet is not set yet. There's a chance that IBARA will be installed in time for the Meet. So its likely that we'll hold off 'til December.

I'd also like to play Cyvern in an arcade, so its most likely we'll install that one also for the Meet.

ckm, live n'direct from click-stick, thanks for the words of encouragement! We're doing our bit to keep the arcades alive over here.

ill6, elbarto, Super Laydock and Herr Schatten -I look forward to seeing you guys again!

Leeram - enjoy your trip on the 30th :D

DEC 10th?

Post by DEL »

How about Sat December 10th :?:

elbarto - Sorry for not replying earlier, I was in Rome this weekend. Next Sat should be fine though :D

Cyvern will be installed.

Suggestions for other PCBs to be installed before the Meet are most welcome.

No problem mate, had a blast on Ketsui, despite not having a damn clue about the scoring. I quite like it, and I'm not usually crazy about Cave games. Managed ~24M after a few goes, and managed to trigger the st3 1UP totally by accident, lol.
I'll PM you closer to the time if there are any probs with next Saturday, I'm not sure if I have to stay in for the morning yet..

Can't do weekends, either, as I have to work (helping out at the family bizniz) -_-;;
Otherwise I would have joined in the fun, and brought Ibara and Brave Blade with me...

Meet Date

Post by DEL »

Unless otherwise specified, Sat December 10th is the date to aim for.
Pls reply if this date is no good for you.

Icarus - Its a shame that you can't do weekends at the mo. Maybe Meet III will be ok for you :D

elbarto - See you this weekend. I'll try to get Cyvern installed on Friday evening (and keep it there until the Meet).

I'll see what I can do.

It'd be nice to see a scrolling beater represented there too.

There is some kind of 3d scrolling fighter there at the moment. Not sure what it is though. (To busy playing Ketsui!)

But yeah, Final Fight would be nice.

Crude Busters
Knights of the Round
Shadow Warriors
The Punisher
Violent Storm

Got told by my district leader that in principal I can get a extra days off since I have over 100 overtime hours standing (they won't pay them and insist in people taking free time to make up for the overtime hours made before). Only problem is my direct chef who I'll need to ask for permision for the specific weekend.

The 10th of December might actually be the perfect date considering all this.
It's right between the most busy periods we have at work (Christmas holiday and before that: Sinterklaas early December). So I have good hope.

Will let know asap when I am certain I an attend. If I can I would like to know if I can share rooms again with someone (or more persons to cut down on costs). Herr Schatten? LUNardei?

RE: Dec 10th

Bloodflowers - If you can make it and wish to bring a beater, I think we can install it on the day. The night before would be more guaranteed though. I'm playing Sopranos pinball a fair bit at the mo. Managed to get to the 8 ball multiball Underboss status so far!

Kid Icarus - There's a Knights of Valour Plus and Demolish Fist in Casino now.

Good hope for me too, but at the moment I can't assure nothing. It's a question of money, basically. Let's see!

If I wasn't totally overdrawn at the moment to the point that I cannot afford to eat (well, maybe not that bad) I would pop down tonight or tomorrow to get a game of SS in!

Maybe next week.

I should go by plane from Amsterdam to London. Cheap and easy (also I love flying much more than taking a train through the Eurotunnel, even if I have to pay more :)).
I still have no permision to get off from work for that weekend atm though. :(
I haven't had a chance to discuss it with the responsible super visor yet since he's been at home ill since last tuesday already. When he gets back at work (hopefully next week) I can ask permission.

Will post here when and whether I get permission. I am looking forward going to London again. :)
